But at the same time, there’s some interesting research suggesting that people actually feel closer to each other when they share a meal. So if you do like the person, dinner can be a better starting point for building something real. The way around that initial uncertainty is simple. If you don’t know the person—say you met on an app—just do a quick FaceTime call first. Five or ten minutes. It’s basically a vibe check. You get a sense of the chemistry, and you can see if they actually look like their pictures. I was in an Uber a couple weeks ago in Austin, and my driver—she was probably in her fifties, recently divorced—was telling me about going on dates. She said half the time the guy’s photos show him with hair, and then she meets him and he’s bald. And she was like, “I’m not trying to date a bald man. If he goes bald while we’re together, fine, but I’m not starting there.” And I told her the same thing: just do a quick FaceTime call beforehand. It solves a lot of that. - Paris Vlog - This might even be my favorite trip so far. I saw FreenBecky together for the first time, Freen for the first time and Becky for the second time. Paris is such a beautiful city, it was very cold but it's my favorite weather, even tho I'm very sick now (you can hear my voice lol). I met a lot of sweet people who were very very very nice to me. They always saved me a spot in the front row, checked often to see if I was okay, and gave me lots of presents. This was my FIRST time on a mini ex. My good buddy flew into TN & laughed at me the whole time. Worth a watch with sound on. To answer the question: If I were getting into this “grading driveways” as a side hustle gig, I’d rent a mini ex from a local rental place first (they’re everywhere). Practice on your driveway or in your backyard first. One thing I learned with ZERO experience operating these 6 yrs ago: the best way to learn to use them is to just… “get in the seat and do it”. Practice until you’re comfortable, then throw some “I grade driveways and spread gravel. Free estimates” on FB Marketplace. Call the gravel/stone yard, ask how much to deliver per load, add a couple hundred bucks to that per load when you price a job. Go price a few jobs from leads. Rent the size mini ex you need. Probably will need a Cat 303 size for small jobs. And just do it. First few of them you may underprice, or it may take you twice as long as it normally would. But the fact is…practice makes perfect. With each new opportunity you’ll get better and better at it. I would not invest a ton in equipment right off the bat. I’d rent it until enough jobs come in that will fund the purchase of a small mini ex or skid steer.

If a neighbor kid worked up enough courage to come knock on my door, tell me he’s hungry, I would not laugh at him and give him a bag of Cheetos so he would go away. In a now viral moment, grown men and women were trash talking the little boy saying he looks like he ate already and worst. I don’t want to think that we’ve gone so far downhill that we are picking on a hungry child. We don’t know what he has going on at home, the facts are straight up. He’s a child and he’s hungry, what more do we need to know. The neighbors said they are done cooking but haven’t eaten yet. That tells me they got more than enough to spare a plate for a hungry child. Like I said before, I am not going to invite him in because that’s weird to invite someone else’s child in but I would make him a plate and make sure he’s safe. People that are saying that they would never feed someone else’s kid is the problem, if they were that worried they can have him ask his mother first. If he came by your house would you feed him or send him along his way hungry?

This time of year you may find foxes coming into your garden, trying to take the food you've put out for the hedgehogs. Mid March is peak baby birthing time for foxes, so right now these new mums are feeding lots of little mouths, so are extra hungry. And the dads are desperately looking for food to take home to mums who can't yet leave the den and their new cubs. So please be patient with them. They won't harm the hedgehogs, they just need food. A raw egg in its shell makes an easy takeaway meal for them. And dog or cat food, wet or dry, or dog treats, will give them the extra nutrition and calories they need. Use a heavy dish, or pin it down (as shown in the video below) as they will try to steal it. I always imagine them thinking, "This dish is magic! It refills with food every night. If take it home I'll never have to go out looking for food again!" 😊
