ECHOES: Feature Film ECHOES is my latest short film. What started as a sci-fi story slowly transformed into something far more intimate and emotional. A piece about illness, the passage of time and the way we all end up creating our own mental planets to cope with what fades away. I know it is not a perfect piece, but it is an honest attempt to make real cinema. This is not a one-day experiment. I truly believe projects need the time they need. ECHOES was made with intention, care and a lot of passion. I hope the story connects with you. And if it does, sharing it means a lot. Social media needs more stories that care about storytelling. FIRST LOOK: Wicker is an upcoming romantic fantasy that stars Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, and Peter Dinklage and is directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson. The idea here is that Colman plays a fisherwoman who pays a local basketmaker to weave her a custom husband out of…you guessed it- wicker. This looks interesting but I’m not sure it’s worthy of being added to my Letterboxd watchlist just yet. I’ll need to read more about this one before tossing her on the watchlist.

Finally wrapped up my short fantasy-adventure film inspired by the Kingdom of Benin and the Edo people of present-day Nigeria—one of my favorite African civilizations to study and creatively explore. I tried to keep the clothing and cultural elements grounded in Edo traditions while blending them with fantasy and science fiction. I’m much more interested in imaginative adaptations than strict historical reenactments because fantasy, adventure, and sci-fi allow us to explore African cultures in limitless new ways. Edo culture has so much potential for world-building, character design, architecture, mythology, technology, and storytelling. It is genuinely one of the most fascinating cultures to experiment with creatively. For my next short film, I’m focusing heavily on Ashanti culture. In the future, I would also love to explore Dahomey, Munhumutapa, and many other African kingdoms and civilizations through fantasy, adventure, and science fiction. I’m completely obsessed with sci-fi and would love to continue creating stories that use African societies and civilizations as the foundation for entirely new worlds. I would love to hear your opinions: which African civilization would you like to see me explore next?

Germany's Defence Minister Boris Pistorius on the collapse of FCAS with France: That the end for FCAS came was no longer surprising. It had been pointing that way for quite some time. It came down above all to tensions — let me put it that way — between the two major industries. With the knowledge of today, we would not set up this project the way it was set up back then. That is a lesson we must draw from this. It was an ambitious, large European project that has now shattered against reality. We have to live with that. There is absolutely no reason to assume that the German-French relationship is strained because of this. This changes nothing about the relationship with France. There are a multitude of smaller and larger projects on our agenda. As for the new jet — we will see which paths we take. We have already been in talks with various actors for months. You can imagine that I will not publicly speculate here about which project it could be.

First is the website which has the full whitepaper and a blueprint of the entire system. It also has a fun design, so I'd definitely check it out even just for that. Third, I've created a video (~10 min) that narrates the entire text of the whitepaper with video illustrations of the concepts within the artwork (see below). Sora animates with this wonderful wonky, sketchy dreamlike quality that perfectly captures the nostalgic atmosphere of a hazy 90's suburban summer afternoon. While Seedance is just as sophisticated and in some aspects superior, I will miss the quality of Sora. Sora feels like 35mm film, with the nuanced way it captures lighting, color, and perspective, while Seedance feels digital - a bit too clean. I am confident that I can replicate this sketchy quality in Seedance by tweaking my prompts, but Sora has a unique way of animating that really should be preserved. There are many more bugs and mistakes with Sora, but when it gets it right, it REALLY hits a level of artful magic that sets it above all other models. I am shocked that I still appear to be the only person who is creating AI-Generated 2D animation with original characters while developing a unique Western style. Practically no one is doing 2D AI-animation at all, and when they do, it is usually an attempt to mimic an Anime style. 2D really should be attempted more by AI Filmmakers!! Especially with a Western model like Sora, before it is terminated in the fall. Really, everyone should be taking advantage of the way this model so skillfully animates, with the heart and soul of a seasoned professional. I personally feel AI-generated animation is superior to 3D/realistic AI filmmaking. While AI-generated realism is an attempt to mimic real life through a lens, 2D animation IS what it is - not a replica of anything, just a cartoon. I love all my AI filmmaker bros and all of the cutting edge work going on, but I urge all of you to give 2D animation a chance. : ) I'm still not giving up hope that we can save Sora somehow. Now that I see that Seedance is able to animate 2D brilliantly and beautifully, I know that it's not some hidden secret, and we can replicate the weights and maths of Sora. If we can't preserve Sora, we can make a comparable model. It's not just in the interest of AI-Animators like me to preserve this model, but in the interest of the entire American AI community if they want Western AI to be superior. If not, Chinese video models will dominate. The NBPA (National basketball players Association) is kicking off the new venture with a digital ad campaign, "Own the Game," narrated by nine-time All-Star Kyrie Irving, it features stars Stephen Curry, Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown and more. Kendrick Lamar's creative agency, Project 3, produced the campaign and the "film" will debut at Cannes Lions. "If you think about any artist who is authentically himself and goes directly to his fans, no one does it better, I would say, than Kendrick Lamar," Kelly said. He adds that the PA wants to create an authentic brand that represents the players and does not have a "middleman," and Lamar has done that with his fan base.

While we had covered the plaza’s inauguration on 15 October, the date of Sankara's assassination, we were able this time to see it first-hand and speak with Nigeriens and Burkinabé about what it means. This move is just one of many in honour of revolutionary Pan-Africanist and socialist figures within the Sahel. Niger’s government recently honoured Djibo Bakary (1922-98), the great Nigerien socialist and Pan-Africanist leader whom African Stream produced a video about, by changing the name of Charles de Gaulle Avenue (in honour of a French coloniser) to Djibo Bakary Avenue. However, the changes in Niger are more than just symbolic. With Niger expelling French and US military forces and ending French mining giant Orano's contract, Niger is forging a path toward sovereignty that we suspect would make assassinated Burkina Faso President Thomas Sankara (1949-87) proud.
