Guess that cop made everyone safer by blocking traffic on the interstate.

Good. I’ve seen so many reckless bikers do this.

Lane splitting (or in this case lane filtering) is only legal in a small minority of states, with significant restrictions. In any area patrolled by the NYPD -- it is explicitly illegal in all situations. Is obeying the traffic laws that difficult?

Kid did it EXACTLY the way he should have. Don't try to run, don't mouth off and DON'T try to fight. Eat the ticket and learn. He'll be a good biker someday.

Did anybody notice how he just listened and complied? This is a perfect example of how you DONT get slammed, arrested and or shot during a traffic stop. Good education right here. Not once did he tell the cop he was a fucker, to get his superior, in the wrong or really anything. He knew he committed a violation and he's going to take it and live to fight another day.

splitting should be legal everywhere tbh

These fat pigs are insufferable

Lane splitting should be legal everywhere. It’s a hazard for riders and their bikes to sit in traffic. The guy wasn’t doing anything crazy or stupid

If you can't see your dick when you take a piss, you shouldn't be a cop. Just saying.

Colorado permits lane splitting but think MS13 is completely safe

Quit lane splitting dumbass!

Good job. I hate these lane splitting idiots.

For the irresponsible riders in the chat, no one likes you except your irresponsible biker buddies.

Cyclists are a danger to other users of the road when they do this kind of shit. I have no problem with this guy getting a ticket.

No! Motorcycles don’t have separate laws on the road. They have to stay in a lane. Their lane splitting cause accidents. Their hot dogging on highways puts everyone in danger. I will now wait for the hate…

should be illegal anyway. lane splitting is nonsense.

Nothing wrong with lane splitting. Once the biker is past you, you never have to worry about them. Bikers take up zero space on the roads. I don`t see the problem with it.

What’s the point to ride a motorbike if you have to wait in lane with the other cars. It’s a stupid law

"You guys" funny how they collectively punish us but we can't collectively call them out.

screw bikers. Especially in NYC metro area. Their plates are hidden so no E-Z pass tolls paid by them. They drive like madmen, then get mad at you for almost running into them. They Suck and I am happy to see this.

Bless that policeman. I’m so sick of bikers doing that.

Cop had nothing better to do? How embarrassing for the cop.

Motorcyclists: carry a spare key in your pocket

This is a dangerous an unlawful stop. He also took your personal property with no warrant. Case drops immediately. Also having you walk your bike across a lane he did not lawfully close off puts you at risk, countersue. Right wrong or indifferent the cop did not follow procedure

@Real_DavidAdams Lane splitting is legal in European countries. You gave to be very careful when switching lanes.

Good. I see this all the time. Traffic must be STOPPED before you can advance. You can’t just blow between cars because the highway is slow.

Lane splitting is illegal in NY? What a backwards-ass state.

I bet that's legal, I see no reason for it to be illegal, it's legal where I live.

Not a biker but in places where this is legal, it seems dangerous- to the biker. When I change lanes in my car, often that requires split second decisions based on a quick scan of traffic in the target lane. If a biker is splitting lanes, there’s a really good chance I won’t see him.

You need to keep a spare key for times like this….

Nobody to blame but himself.

This is legal but only during traffic jams to keep the air cooled bike from overheating and seizing up. Just like any law, some folk twist it to their benefit and turn into a nuisance.

Good. Needs to happen a lot more often. If you are on the other side of the fence then you don’t realize how dangerous it is. And yes I have a motorcycle license.

Looks like it is illegal in NY… 🤷🏻♂️

As a CA native and a former rider, why would anyone take the risk of riding if you can’t split lanes? The risk isn’t worth the reward otherwise.
