Nationalism is inherently good for the people of a nation and it provides coherence and continuity in a nation's relationships with other nations. Don't confuse nationalism with imperialism.

.Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a hero, a staunch fighter against the violent intolerance and bossy control freakery of Islamism. She is also a personal friend of whom I am very fond. When she recently announced her conversion to Christianity, I assumed that she must be no more than a political Christian, regarding Christianity as a bulwark against Islam. I have some sympathy with the view that if you must have a religion at all, Christianity is hugely better than the leading alternative. In Hilaire Belloc’s words, “Always keep a-hold of Nurse for fear of finding something worse.” I agreed to have a public conversation with her in New York, in which I was all prepared to emphasize the distinction between a political Christian and a true believing Christian, who actually thinks Jesus was born of a virgin and rose from the dead. I think the distinction is a really important one. I don’t think a political Christian is a real Christian, any more than the kind of cultural Christian I am myself. When we met on the stage at the Dissident Dialogues meeting in New York, I was wrongfooted when Ayaan began with a personal statement which seemed to suggest that she really is a believing Christian, not just a political Christian. Reform UK promise to reverse the Boriswave and hold an inquiry into who was responsible for bringing millions of third-world migrants to Britain after Brexit. How can they do this when their party is full of former Tory ministers and Boriswave migrants? Are they going to imprison their own MPs and deport their own councillors? Reform will also replace ILR with a renewable five-year work visa, keep the care workers that Boris imported against the advice of the Migration Advisory Committee, and refuse to repeal citizenship grants — which the Boriswave are eligible for starting this year. So, they won't send them home. We can't trust the arsonists to put out the fire. Reform has no credibility or intent to reverse the Boriswave and hold the culprits accountable. But I'm sure Zia Yusuf is happy at the prospect of sinking Robert Jenrick's chances of being Nigel Farage's successor.

The Conservative party keeps talking about a high wage economy, so why aren't they matching or even improving doctors pay in relation to my friend's cleaner's hourly rate?

For the first time ever, the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery service at Johns Hopkins Hospital is being led by five Black surgeons. All which are senior residents, marking a historic milestone for the institution. The team includes highly accomplished physicians with two PhDs and six master’s degrees among them, including Dr. Lawrence B. Brown and Dr. Zachary Numa. Together, they are leading care at a Level 1 trauma center in a field where only 6% of surgeons nationwide are Black. And the symbolism runs deep. There was a time when Black patients were not allowed to be treated at Johns Hopkins. Today, Black surgeons are leading critical care inside its walls. Seven Afghan asylum seekers have been charged with dozens of rape and child sex offences in a major grooming gang investigation involving two girls in their early-to-mid teens. The men, all Afghan nationals aged 20-23 face a total of around 40 serious charges including multiple counts of rape, human trafficking, conspiracy to commit child sexual abuse and perverting the course of justice. The alleged offences took place between August 2023 and May 2025. Five of the men entered the UK on small boats, one hidden in a lorry and another via Portsmouth ferry. Police carried out raids at six addresses in Norwich and one in Dumbarton, Scotland. All seven appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court today and were remanded in custody. An eighth man, aged 19, has been detained in Ireland with extradition now being sought.
