Five years ago, as a computer science student at Waterloo, I was told the only way to build world-class products was to move to the US. I ended up co-founding Float here in Toronto instead, and today we're growing our engineering team by more than 25% to rebuild Canada's...

Want to skip the application queue? Send me a link to something you’ve built with AI that you’re particularly proud of. If it catches our attention and we think there could be a match, we’ll skip the application and get you straight into an interview

In terms of getting into Waterloo computer science program, do you have any advice? My step son is only grade 9 but he’s going to a tech mini school, where they accelerate math/science and start the technology classes early. I think Waterloo will be the best, but it’s competitive and I’m wondering what they look for? My husband is a software engineer so he’s got him working on some things. And my friend checked out some of your guys stuff during Toronto tech week!! Good luck with everything

Hey Ruslan. NTMU. I am an First Nations independent AI dev in Newfoundland...probably the only one in all of Canada. Good to see others out in the space.

Yo! Float's pretty sweet man. Glad to see something happening in Canadian fintech that's not B2C for once.

Skipping the application queue for a portfolio link is a good filter. Curious how many of those AI projects end up being actual product work versus weekend toy demos, since that gap matters a lot for hiring.

the waterloo path used to be the only path. now a student can ship agent workflows publicly instead, tinyfish opened a program for exactly that today

I currently use float in my business. I've spotted some annoying bugs, be it on the mobile version and also the web. Where can I send the feedback to?

As an Early Bitcoin Investor & trader, I’ve lost money several times, so I understand that losses are part of investing. But losing over $2.8 million in some of my businesses back home taught me a different lesson. I thought I was diversifying away from risky assets like crypto and stocks into physical businesses, which I believed were safer. I was wrong. There are few things riskier than investing heavily in businesses you cannot physically be there to monitor. What hurt even more was realizing that some of the people I trusted to help build and manage my vision saw my absence as an opportunity to enrich themselves, like the person who was supposed to help me source the Livestocks And as the businesses struggled, I kept putting in more money trying to save them. Sometimes you have to let a dying horse die instead of losing everything trying to save it. I eventually made myself one promise: Never again will I make a major investment in a business whose day-to-day operations I cannot properly monitor! This is one of the principles I now teach in the Diaspora Wealth Builders Community. If you live in the diaspora, learn to take advantage of the wealth-building opportunities available in the country where you live. Build your financial stability there first. Then, if you eventually return home, you can build businesses where you are physically present to monitor them. And if you must invest back home while living abroad, consider investments that don’t depend heavily on other people managing them for you, like the stock market. Invest only where you can see the day-to-day running of your business. 🌍 If you’re an African living in the diaspora and want to learn how to build wealth where you live, join the Diaspora Wealth Builders Community. 👉🏾 Join at
