Hills I will die on as an elementary school teacher, who just wrapped up my 32nd year teaching! 1. If you are not PASSIONATE about blessing, serving, and empowering those you are blessed to teach, this profession is not for you. 2. Our students are not “ours”. They are their families, and we need to understand the magnitude of the calling, and responsibility we have to meet them where they are, and to help them to get to a place that they never thought possible. 3. As important as the curriculum is (and it IS important), the children in our classroom are what matter most. It’s our JOB to teach the curriculum to SERVE our students, NOT to use our students to push any sort of agenda. 4. Just as we teach our students to “leave things better than they found them”, we need to leave our students better than they were when they first entered into our classroom. Never let a day pass without pouring into each and every child. 5. We should not teach our children WHAT to think, but HOW to think, and how to use that knowledge to bless and serve not only themselves, but the world around them. 6. Our words carry little (or NO value), if we do not practice what we preach. 7. If we don’t make learning fun, children will view learning as a chore, and we we will be creating a generation of children who grow up to be young adults who don’t see the joy in learning new things. 8. The child that may be “difficult to reach/teach” (the one who may get on your last nerve more than you could ever imagine), is someone’s EVERYTHING. Get to know them as human beings, find out what motivates them, and do everything you can to help them to thrive. 9. Never tell a child they “can’t” do something. Make sure to vet your instructors and report anyone like this so they can never pick up a firearm again. I know we joke around here but this kind of negligence is exactly how people die. How to vet a firearms instructor: •Certifications are a baseline. NRA, USCCA, or state credentials are common, but they don’t guarantee skill or good teaching. •Ask who trained them. Good instructors are lifelong students. If they haven’t taken a class recently, that’s a red flag. •Experience ≠ expertise. im sorry but this is a very good example why detailed, full of context leaks from “extras” and randos on set are fake or full of shit in 99% of cases… if an actor cant place a scene based on dialogue, I promise you an extra that saw 30 seconds of a scene (if) can’t draw context from it and tell you what is going on in the episode/season/with characters. you can get: outfits, maybe a line or two if they even manage to hear it and actually remember it, what they THINK is going on and if they’re composed enough to pay attention to a clapperboard and ADs, maybe an episode and a scene number (that is usually not the case tho)

Completely agree with Auron MacIntyre’s take here about the importance of reading original sources (the context is George Washington’s Farewell Address, and how reading that and other pre-1945 sources helps you see how different the world was, and how deceived many of us are about what “American values” are). But I would take it a step further: This focus on original sources is precisely what led me away from protestantism, and to the Catholic Church. I discovered “something very radical and modern” (as Auron said) had happened in the 16th century, representing a huge departure from the fullness of Christian truth and fellowship. I discovered the Church Fathers, and the Saints who succeeded them, all of them testifying to a radically different faith and Church than I been taught to believe in. I discovered protestantism was an aberration with no firm basis in history or Christian thought, and that I had unwittingly been on the side that had helped destroy Christian civilization, ironically in the name of Christ. Just like many people today are destroying America in the name of “American values.” When you know our roots, you know that claim is often bunk. The same with the Church and the protestant sects, which is why so many protestants who take the plunge end up Catholic.

People get so emotional about DNA issues that they refuse to think reasonably. If you, on your own volition, wake up one morning, and decide to go have a DNA paternity test of "your" children, then you must also be ready for the results that will come back to you. You must have reasonable cause to go for the test. That reasonable cause means you are not 100% sure if the kids are yours and hence need a confirmation test. The DNA centers are supposed to take you through counseling before you sign on to do the test. Don't go for a test and later come and disturb us online with the results. Nobody asked for it. The situation is different if you need to have the DNA test to help you complete some documentation for traveling etc. That one you didn't request for the test out of your own volition. So I can understand you if you are surprised when the results come. There is an Akan proverb that says "if you go searching for stuffs in the eyes of dead person, you will definitely see a ghost."

This is a very different post to normal. In romania there are 130-140 dog killing stations. Cute little puppies who are scared for their life are being murdered brutally. I want to use my reach for something good. This is paid by taxes all from over europe to help romania stabilise.
