Here is just a taste of the life of a big league Cincinnati Reds catcher during MLB spring training… 1. Angled live receiving, 2. Ground balls, 3. Machine receiving (right handed breaking ball, left handed low heat), 4. Footwork & exchange off machine, 5. Bullpens and, 6. Game time!

"I thought he was sharp. He really throws the ball well in between the hashes. I'm also seeing tremendous improvement in his footwork. Now, he's had a number of days that he's struggled with the operation. He has to improve that." 📞 Lance Reisland (Coach Riz) w/ Jonathan Peterlin and Nick Pedone on how Shedeur Sanders looked on Day 11 of #Browns training camp 🏈

Footwork. There seems to be a “stutter step” obsession going on in INF drills/training. Are stutter steps sometimes necessary to be on time with feet to field the ball. Yes. But just a few. Not continuous “pitter patter” while approaching the ground ball. Watch Lindor take reps. He does not take thousands of choppy steps to be on time. Often he takes no choppy steps at all…. Point is. In my opinion… The goal of training should be to make drills as game like as possible… unless over exaggeration is needed to combat a major flaw.
