For the past few months, Cuba has intensified military activity across the entire country, with patrols accompanied by drones and the positioning of artillery throughout the territory. The country is expecting an invasion that, by all indications, will become a reality soon. There is very little Cuba can do in the face of a missile attack and assault operations against government installations. But would there be any economic benefit for the USA in an assault against Cuba?

When I pointed out that Cuba maintained universal healthcare and education while under U.S. sanctions, Maria Elvira didn’t deny it. She said Cuba was receiving support from the Soviet Union. Exactly. Cuba was under sanctions, received resources from an ally, and used them to fund social programs.
