For the past few months, Cuba has intensified military activity across the entire country, with patrols accompanied by drones and the positioning of artillery throughout the territory. The country is expecting an invasion that, by all indications, will become a reality soon. There is very little Cuba can do in the face of a missile attack and assault operations against government installations. But would there be any economic benefit for the USA in an assault against Cuba?

Despite the U.S. Supreme Court declaring the extraordinary tariffs against Cuba illegal, the fuel blockade remains in place. The executive order against Cuba continues to be enforced through pressure, coercion, and threats to third parties. At the same time, the U.S. intends to maintain military control over the traffic of vessels arriving in Cuba. The US has no right to invade, seize, or take over any country. Our government cannot even manage our own country, as 70% of Americans struggle to afford food, housing, and healthcare, and they don’t plan to help Cuba either. Their goal is to privatize Cuba to further enrich US billionaires. Trump has hinted for months that an invasion of Cuba is imminent, and now it appears these tyrants might try it. Rep Maria Elvira Salazar says we’ve been fooled by the Cuban government. But listening to her own argument, it sounds more like she’s fooling herself. When I pointed out that Cuba maintained universal healthcare and education while under U.S. sanctions, Maria Elvira didn’t deny it. She said Cuba was receiving support from the Soviet Union. Exactly. Cuba was under sanctions, received resources from an ally, and used them to fund social programs. Today, instead of allowing Cuba to trade and develop normally, Washington doubles down on economic punishment. You can criticize the Cuban government all you want.
