For AI to work with us, it needs to understand us Today, we're introducing Persimmon, the first large-scale model designed to realistically simulate how people talk and interact

Why this model category? User models let us roll out a hypothetical situation or explore the consequences of an event or decision Good user models are a key step towards AI that understands the differences between people and how they change

As you have likely seen, AI text often has tells that make it bad at capturing the real distribution of human conversations. Assistant-simulated conversations are less diverse than human conversations and evolve more predictably

In our tests, an AI judge could almost always spot conversations generated by frontier assistant models prompted to simulate people Compared to these models, Persimmon's conversations were much harder to distinguish from human ones

We mid- and post-trained Persimmon starting from NVIDIA's 550b Nemotron 3 Ultra model, using thousands of Blackwell-generation GPUs, leveraging the cluster we recently built Persimmon is an early release, and there's still much more to do: tool use, longer horizons, and more

We're offering limited (research preview) access to Persimmon through our playground and API. Please read our blog to learn more and apply!

Ehhh??

congrats!! cool to see new research direction 👏

this is a pretty awesome direction, congrats!

Congrats!!!

congrats! its sometimes too obvious to realize that human is also a special type of "agent" and it should be part of the world we are modeling

this is sick! congrats :D

I like persimmons

consider enforcing some watermarking schemes to compensate for this please

Exciting direction, congrats on the launch!

Very cool direction on simulating humans. Congrats on the launch! Can imagine there would be a lot of interesting RLHF cooked here lol.

Amazing! Congrats on the launch!

would be interesting to see what @pangram detects

fun!

It is fun to talk to a model that is neither a helpful assistant nor a 10x engineer. Think about it :) Congrats to the team @314Bansal @alexisjross @niloofar_mire @ Joey @__Charlie_G @ Yuan @MaartenBosma @ericzelikman @YuchenHe07

amazing!!!

very interesting release, congrats! i think it's a super important research direction, and the limited capabilities in this area are still a blocker for broader AI adoption 👀

Congrats!!!

Keeping humanity human. Congratulations!

Any specific reasoning for post training over nemotron 3 ultra model compared to other open source?

Could I get access, I like persimmons!

this is pretty exciting! better agents really do require better models of human messiness instead of perfect rationality...🙌

Wowwwww

Congrats on the launch @ericzelikman @YuchenHe07!!

Very leftist model

!! nice work this is very cool

Congrats!

Yummy!

A model that simulates how people talk. Useful if it can be wrong in public. Dangerous if it only sounds right

if it truly simulates human interaction, that could change how we engage with AI

nice congrats on the launch!

this is very neat, congrats!

@noahdgoodman Congrats on the launch!! Soon language will be solved the way coding is 🤯

goodspeed!

NEED!
