For an upcoming project at Active Theory I've been experimenting with a file format i'm calling ActiveFrame. Like a video format, leveraging H.264 compression, allows random-access to any frame and it's fully hardware accelerated. No runtime depedencies, works eveywhere.

6 months at Rise! 6 months of me getting to do what I love, with a team full of superstars. Over the last few months, I've been tweaking and experimenting with some poster styles for Hisa (formerly Chaka) Invest with Hisa, and I really love where I'm headed. Caught up with Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, who are promoting Bounty at the Super Bowl. Had to ask Skattebo for an update on his ankle, even though he's getting tired of the questions. Here's the latest: "I'm starting to run again and people are telling me to be careful and do this and do that. It's like, 'I'm good.' I'm not going to put myself in a bad spot, but I'm working to get better. I'm probably about two months out of being fully healthy. Getting there, but having a good time while doing it." They're even a duo as pitchmen. More to come in a story later/tomorrow.

I've been testing out Windows 11's new Haptic Signals feature on compatible hardware, and I think I love it. I'm someone who yearns for small UX details like this, and I'm so happy to see Microsoft leaning into subtle but quality UX implementations like haptics across the Windows Shell. These new Haptic Signals provide a subtle bump when interacting with certain UI elements and actions, such as snapping app windows or dragging files in File Explorer. The feedback response feels great and intentional, and makes using the OS feel more satisfying. There's still room for improvement, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with this first implementation. It's only supported on a handful of devices for now, but that should change over time. I've always loved the haptic feedback layered throughout Google Pixel phones, and now Windows is getting its own version of it. More UX niceties like this, please!

Bad news: my computer is dying and I need help to replace it so I can keep creating the content you love. The thermal interface is failing, which is causing overheating and throttling in the form of random freezes and crashes that are making it increasingly difficult to do basic tasks, let alone things like video editing (see video). I was hoping to replace the computer in a few months, but the problem is so bad now it's impacting my ability to make a living. Because I've been deplatformed from other financial apps, I've set up a GiveSendGo (link in reply) with a longer explanation. If you'd like to send crypto, DM for my addresses. Ok, this is just weird now.. 13 Years ago, Erika Kirk, stared in a music video "She's My Kind of Crazy" In the video, she can be seen zip lining past the time 9:10, which is the same date Charlie Kirk was assassinated, 9/10. In addition to that, she commented on the music video, saying Tyler and her had a blast shooting the video. —— no idea who she’s referring to at that Time… maybe her co-star? I’m going to keep looking. There was also something very interesting… the license plate in the old Ford Truck they drove off to Vegas is different compared to the same truck they left Vegas in. — To Vegas: “4991”, with an unidentifiable symbol to the left, and in an unidentified format — Leaving Vegas: “E-Drive 12” in a California format. Look up which states have 4-digit license plates… Several U.S. states issue standard passenger vehicle license plates that consist of exactly 4 digits (numeric only, in a format like 1234). These are typically low-numbered or legacy plates reserved for special purposes, such as VIP’s, political officials, dignitaries, or long-time residents through lotteries or inheritance. 🔻 What does all of this mean? On The Road With Al & Ivy Blog entry for June 3, 2016: First book trailer for the On The Road With Al & Ivy novel "On The Road With Al & Ivy—Book 1: Becoming A Face" will be released in about two weeks. As I said earlier, I was working on this book and "The Quitturz," and this one was the first to be completed. I decided a while back to do this as a novel for various reasons, mainly because it's complicated to write a book based on real life with actual people. Anyone who's read this blog for years knows that this novella, which runs about 45,000 words, will be based on my experiences. The novel format allows me to include a lot of material based on other people's observations and comments, which will make the novel more richly detailed. The format allows me to fictionalize people so that every character resembles no one in real life. The main reason is to protect sources and to take advantage of fiction's flexibility, which allows me to use my imagination. I think that with any work based on real-life experiences, it's essential to be fair to the characters. One of the things I specifically avoided was not to create one-dimensional saints and sinners, so to speak, so that every character can be seen as a human being with both virtues and flaws. Doing this as a fictional trilogy also allows me to draw on my interest in past literature and do this as a work. I didn't want to do a documentary-style book. Plenty of those are already available for this book's subject matter. The title refers to a phrase that will be occasionally used in the book. It doesn't have one particular meaning. It starts off meaning one thing, but as the story progresses, you'll find that it's a much more complex concept. Another aspect is the story's structure. The original drafts were in the first person, but I found that once I shifted to a novel format, I could weave a more complex tapestry that included other first-person accounts and third-person narratives. I admit that my writing will probably get mixed reviews, as some readers will always criticize that kind of structure, but after 8 years and a lot of thought, it's simply the best way to present the story.
