Plutarch, a #Greek🇬🇷 philosopher, was the first to speak about the Armenian dances and traditions . In the 1st century BC, Armenians built an amphitheater and held different dance performances. Each region and province of Armenia has unique dances and costumes that have been part of the culture for generations. A key element of Armenian national dances is the traditional clothing known as taraz, which not only had a role in everyday life but also played a significant part in the national dances. - Certain types of dances have the power to transmit emotions and inspire with their values : such as the military dance known as Yarkhushta, which is considered one of the most unique and remarkable national military dances. Originating from ancient times, this folk dance has been documented in the writings of early medieval scholars like Movses Khorenatsi, Faustus of Byzantium, and Grigor Magistro. Each region in Armenia has its variation of Kochari dance. In 2017, Armenian Kochari was included to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
