CNN is in damage control after being caught publishing a story sourced with highly classified information. They claim the President and SecDef are attacking journalists, but this is false. An intelligence community member leaked top-secret information to a biased press, which then published it. That's the issue. Disseminating top-secret information to the public is illegal, and when filtered through biased media, it fosters misunderstandings.

Look at all the information you're generating just by doing your work. Just putting that into an intelligence and being able to query it will give you an understanding of the company that is 2-3x more than you had before, ever." I went on GB News to explain how Bracknell Forest Council is attacking free speech and democracy by trying to stop politicians from telling residents the truth about an Afghan resettlement hotel. I showed images of the four-star hotel accommodation being provided to Afghans. This is taxpayers’ money and an integral piece of information for residents to determine whether the level of support being provided is appropriate and fair. The information I shared was not confidential and was already in the public domain. If unelected council staff can decide what information politicians are and are not allowed to discuss (even when that information is not confidential), then that is a direct attack on democracy, because it shifts power away from elected representatives and towards unelected bureaucrats deciding what the public is allowed to know.

And so, with AI and all the data that’s out there, what I think right-wing authoritarians want to create is this kind of lord-versus-peasant dynamic that existed in the Dark Ages, when people didn’t have access to information.
