Erwin Tulfo’s remark that laws must sometimes be bent to please the public amid the flood control scandal. Sen. Win Gatchalian is speaking on behalf of Remulla, as senators denied the request of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta to suspend the rules. Tulfo previously said contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya, as well as officials implicated in the issue, must return the allegedly stolen money before being admitted into the Witness Protection Program (WPP). Marcoleta countered that this is not a requirement for the WPP, prompting Tulfo to say the government must sometimes “bend the law to please the people,” a statement to which Remulla agreed. | Eimor Santos
