Let’s clarify the Greenland position. Greenland is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark. It had recent elections in which there was ZERO support for Greenland to be part of the US. The JD Vance visit to Greenland yesterday was unwelcome. Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen rightly accused the US of exerting "unacceptable pressure" She said in a statement: “I have to say that it is unacceptable pressure being placed on Greenland and Denmark in this situation. You cannot make a private visit with official representatives from another country, when the acting Greenlandic government has made it very clear that they do not want a visit at this time,” Vance and his wife had to settle for visiting the US base, but still spewed Trump’s demands. This is clearly an open act of aggression towards an autonomous territory who have made it clear Greenland is not for sale. Just as an aside, if it was for sale, Denmark would be forced to ask the permission of the British Government. The USA already has a defence agreement with Denmark that allows the USA to have as much military presence as they want in Greenland. They have decided to only have 150 troops currently. Why? Because: 4) Neither China nor Russia have any presence in Greenland at all. No companies, no mining, no consulates. Nothing. And they do not threaten Greenland. The only threat against Greenland is the USA.
