That’s so fascinating—it’s like she conjured a real vampire that haunted her lol. As a writer, I get it. Some characters just sing to you.

Fully think all this and the connections she made between her characters and Stan/Michelle are why she was so sensitive about fanfiction! Her writing was just too entangled with her personal life that it made her uncomfortable to see others using it.
