The Data (Use and Access) Bill must be stopped. This is not a new piece of legislation, it’s a rebranded version of the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill. Which the Conservative government failed to push through before the general election. Now, Labour are trying again. This bill paves the way for an all-encompassing digital identity system. Despite assurances that digital IDs will be voluntary. The reality is that once these systems are embedded into everyday life, for banking, government services or even supermarket age verification—opting out becomes impossible. Today in Parliament, I raised concerns affecting India’s prepaid recharge customers, who account for nearly 90% of the country’s 125 crore mobile users. (1) If a recharge expires, stopping outgoing calls may be understandable. But why are incoming calls stopped as well? Once validity ends, people cannot be reached, and even essential messages like bank OTPs may not come through. In emergencies or urgent situations, this can leave a person completely cut off. My demands: First is that incoming calls and SMS should continue for at least one year after the last recharge so essential communication does not stop. Second, a mobile number should not be deactivated for at least three years after the last recharge. Third, telecom operators should introduce a low cost “incoming only” plan for users who simply need their number to remain active for essential calls, OTPs and government services. (2) I also raised the issue of 28 day recharge “monthly” plans. If something is called monthly, it should follow the calendar month of 30–31 days. Because of the 28 day cycle, consumers effectively end up paying for 13 recharges in a year. (28 days × 13 recharges = 364 days) Telecom Operators should sync up their Recharge Plans with the true calendar months, and not 28 day plans. A mobile phone today is not a luxury. It is a lifeline. Prepaid recharge customers deserve fairness and transparency. Not clever fine print.

Today, I voted to advance a resolution in the House for impeachment. Let us be clear, multiple potentially impeachable offenses have been conducted by this Administration. But ultimately, impeachment is a Congressional process with investigations, hearings, and votes in the House and Senate. The current majority won’t even pass a healthcare bill right now, more-less stop this lawless behavior. But, accountability must ultimately come.

No, this video is not in reverse. An officer from the Caledon OPP Traffic Enforcement Uniit stopped this vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign while cruising in reverse. Although the driver did technically stop, it was in the middle of an intersection, which is not the appropriate place to stop. The driver was charged accordingly. Caledon OPP would like to remind motorists that posted stop signs apply to both vehicles traveling in forward and reverse. Vehicles are required to stop at the marked stop line, and if one does not exist, then the nearest crosswalk or before entering the intersection. #CaledonOPP Town of Caledon #DriveSafe #DriveLegal ^rb

Coal prices have risen internationally but Ukraine had nothing to do with #energy prices rising in Australia. Investment in #solar and #wind is to blame. It is important that the government in this country start facing reality and stop hiding the problem. The #Ukraine has nothing to do with #coal prices in this country. In fact, Australian coal prices did not rise at all under their existing long term contracts for our #coal-fired power stations. The government must stop misleading parliament that rising electricity prices in Australia are due to a war in the Ukraine. Massive solar and wind #subsidies are the cause of Australians suffering some of the highest #electricity prices in the world. Every time a coal fired power station is shut in this country we see yet the another spike in our power bills because unreliable #renewables cannot provide the same inexpensive baseload power supply.
