I think American citizenship (no dual citizenship) is a bare minimum plus a 10-20 years in country/state/district residency requirement. I was born here but know many 1st gen/naturalized Americans who are more patriotic citizens than people born in the U.S.

if I ever moved to live in Japan or South Korea, I would never want to run for any public office. and even to be a "Japanese citizen" after, I don't know 6-7 years of living there, would be absurd for me. I don't fit in. but in the West, you can become American.

Okay I get it but you cannot rule out who is considered American or not. I believe this requires way more nuance than a blanket solution. There are also a lot of based Asians in the government that will do the job well. Also, theoretically speaking. What about someone who is mixed? Or even a quarter Asian? Like how far do we take this? lol. Also, what is an American? Is it just the Anglo Saxons who are direct descendants of the founding fathers?
