Forget everything else, Mass Effect Andromeda's biggest crime was giving this guy an audible buttery chocolate voice, the most detailed facial model in the game, badass N7 lore, but didn't make him the main character. Worst still, they killed him off in the first 14 god damn seconds.

Andromeda had insane voice actors and they felt extremely under utilized. Clancy brown. Natalie Dormer. Kumail Nanjiani. Indira fucking Varma

It's a shame. Such talent.

I wanted to play the seasoned N7 explorer taming the frontier like that first trailer made it feel i was going to be. The twins just didn’t have this aura.

I have to agree

I dunno, I think the entire Andromeda galaxy having two new races (arguably one) to meet was the agony highlight for me.

That was a hugeeeee let down. Made the galaxy feel empty

Real empty, and a real missed opportunity. I think they were more interested in making sure all the fan favourites were still around rather than risk creating half a dozen new cultures that might not land with audiences. I get it, but it's a cowardly from a writing standpoint.

Imagine hiring Clancy goddamn Brown to voice a character only to kill him off in the prologue. 🙄

A crime!

Aside having no damn Quarians, yea, quite the crime.

That also is up there!

Biggest crime? It's literally the reason Clancy signed on. It was the first role he took that wasn't a generic bad guy and showed he could pull it off.

@MandoTheDark So you agree with me?

Do I agree that Clancy voicing a good guy for once be considered a crime? No.

@MandoTheDark Reread what I said. I'm saying it's a crime to not allow us to have more of him.

How else could the CAC become Pathfinder?

@MandoTheDark Infinite ways mate

Not by the rules MEA established. Alec Ryder had to literally die in order for his kids to inherit the Pathfinder mantle. If he had lived, he wouldn't have been as meaningful.

Another crime would be Nathalie Dormer voicing a non-romanceable Asari

I think its fine because the game wanted to show the end goal of Ryder. That they will become this badass character. This character who does incredible feats. Its just that the game doesn't make this as a core plot component. Also he should have died at least a few missions in.

I would have been happy with him as the main character.

that's the ANAZINg Clancy Brown who voices Mr Crabs (SpongeBob) Detective Damien Darkblood (demon guy on Invincible) Lex Luthor on Justice League and many other hundreds of recognizable characters! he also does live action too!

He is truly talented.

The Mr. Krabs budget ran out quick sadly

Yep then went 'are ya ready kids?' and yeeted off

I've actually been playing Andromeda recently, I played it a while years ago, and yes it's unfortunate they got rid of Alec like that, they should've kept him around as a retired Pathfinder, but the game is just so incredibly great in ways I hadn't remembered. Maybe it's just because I'm comparing it to more recent games instead of the legendary games I used to compare it to, but wow it's awesome. It's surely not perfect, it has some crazy woke crap in it, but that aside it was an awesome game and they never should have cancelled the DLC/Sequels, they should've just improved it, got rid of the woke stuff, added more depth, and made it even more awesome than it already was, it would have made for a tremendous Trilogy!

i tell you a secret... every game voice doubled from english use premium actor... when english original use basement noname voice actor

100% he was going to be back in a sequel

Andromeda had a clunky intro, but overall, I liked it pretty well. I think it got criticized too harshly, whereas Inquisition was wildly overrated.

Mr. Kurgan Crabs was robbed.

Clocked Clancy Brown's voice instantly

And it's rare to get an older protagonist. But it probably was because they wanted to let you pick genders. Having him around long enough to form some familial bonds would have been nice. Let him talk about his wife with Cora. He could have been injured instead of dead.

Not even Cora's perfectly chiseled butt could save this game

But the thing is, if the game hadn’t been a disaster for a few other reasons, the narrative choice actually works. They put so much emphasis on Alec because he is The Hero character. Which makes M!Ryder/F!Ryder just, well, the Heroes kid. People even remind you of that fact multiple times in the first half of the game. “We need Alec Ryder, not you…” etc etc. So I think the extra details (including casting Clancy Brown) was an intentional, creative choice to try to knock you on your ass when things happen to Alec.

Same guy btw…

Amazing range huh?

Clancy Brown is an icon.

He literally had a story arc trough the entire game, like come on.

OMG it’s Clancy Brown!!!

@ArmisBryan Fully agree! He was the only one I was interested in. And they killed him right at the beginning. And from that point, my interest in the game dropped so much and fast...

Clancy Brown is such an amazing actor whose potential was wasted by killing his character off so early.

Agreed

I liked Andromeda a lot. It can’t be compared to the trilogy of course, but it was a really fun game with good mechanics

Alec Ryder was the only character I could take seriously.

Damn straight! He should have been the main protagonist but I don't expect from After ME3 Blizzard to be able to make a good game anyway, so it was expected that Andromeda would be god-awful.

my nigga clancy brown

its detailed sure, but i wonder how messed up it can get since there is the setting to match his face to both children's genetics

I'd guess it was hurt by the frostbite engine... needed unreal engine, not many devs know frostbite. A slowly repairable reaper = potential ally/squadmate would have been sick! ( ME3 ending separating reapers from their hivemind) Also the 69 NPC glitch :O

Created such a charismatic character just to replace him with a bitch

Ngl, Alec's background story about the development of SAM and the real intentions of the Andromeda campaing was the main force that kept me going. Also, the advance combat and Asari biotic sword.

-travels to a different galaxy to find a cure for his dying wife -helps escape most of the milky way races from the reapers what a legend

In the original trilogy Shepard starts off as an older Veteran. Going to some punk ass kid and expecting us to respect him/her was such a huge mistake.
