China’s first humanoid training base, established by the National Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, began operations yesterday. “The training base is essentially a factory that produces data,” said Jiang Lei, chief scientist of the innovation center. The 50k sq. ft. training hub will launch with over a dozen tasks involving 100 robots from more than 10 companies and institutions, including AGIBOT and Fourier. The data gathered here will eventually be available to companies developing embodied AI models. By 2027, the Shanghai facility aims to scale to support 1,000 robots under training.

Brain-controlled exoskeletons to train humanoid robots! 🧠 Fourier just presented human tele-operators using brain control interfaces and exoskeletal arms to train humanoid robots on home tasks. The brain control interface is the interesting part. Instead of using a controller or joystick to teleoperate, the operator's movements and intentions are captured more naturally through the exoskeleton and BCI. This means the demonstrations are more fluid, more human-like, and better suited for training robots to perform delicate home tasks. Multiple tele-operators are simultaneously generating training data across multiple robots. This is how you build the dataset needed for eventual full autonomy, without waiting years for it to arrive. This might be the bridge between "robots that work in controlled environments" and "robots that work in homes." Humanoid and Siemens successfully completed a POC testing humanoid robots in industrial logistics. HMND 01 robot autonomously performed a tote-to-conveyor destacking task during a two-week on-site deployment at the Siemens Electronics Factory in Erlangen. Within the next 5 years, hundreds of humanoid robots will be deployed in Schaeffler's global factories, with beta versions first implemented in 2026–2027. Schaeffler is also becoming the preferred supplier of joint actuators for the humanoid wheeled platform and is jointly exploring next-generation actuator architectures with its partner. More importantly, the two companies will collaborate deeply on data and skills: continuously accumulating real-world manufacturing data through teleoperation, synthetic data, and peripheral data acquisition robots to train AI models, enabling humanoid robots to learn faster and perform more reliably in the factory.
