Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre argues that the modern priest is formed to preside over the people rather than offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I attend both the TLM and the Novus Ordo. There are two kinds of priests. Traditionalist priests in both Rites who direct parishioners to the Sacraments above all else. And those who preach psychology first. I prefer the traditional priest. Was Lefebvre right?

Again, if you know a trad priest who thinks the SSPX faithful have been excommunicated, please share this clip from canon lawyer, Father Gerald Murray who, though NOT SSPX, has called the Vatican's declaration a "canonical mess!" Father Murray could not be clearer: "The SSPX faithful and priests are not – ACCORDING TO THE VATICAN DECREE -- excommunicated." It is, therefore, a gross violation of Christian charity to suggest that they are and to require of them some sort of formal declaration of faith before they can “reenter the Church.” The Revolution already has plenty of useful idiotic water carriers without traditional Catholic priests volunteering to drive the water truck. Enough, already! Please SHARE

In 2019, the SSPX was the only priestly community in France that refused to open its clergy archives to a national investigation into clerical sex abuse. While scores of dioceses and priestly communities gave free access to investigators, the SSPX refused. Why? Because it believes in policing itself. The SSPX is notoriously opaque when it comes to abusers in its ranks, refusing to publish a list of credibly accused priests (unlike the practice in many dioceses & religious orders), refusing to help compensate victims of abuse, refusing to set up truly independent review boards & refusing to say whether donor $$$ goes toward the legal defense of accused predators. In light of the multiple high-profile arrests, trials and convictions of SSPX priests in recent years, this continued lack of transparency & accountability remain a serious problem in the SSPX. SSPX supporters say that if the Society doesn't consecrate bishops tomorrow then traditional Catholicism will be irreparably harmed. I would argue that if they decide at this late hour to *not* consecrate bishops, then traditional Catholicism could be immeasurably helped.
