We are thrilled to share positive topline data from our ELEVATE IPF Phase 2b trial evaluating deupirfenidone (LYT-100) for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (#IPF), a progressive and fatal lung disease. Our trial met the primary and key secondary endpoints, with deupirfenidone demonstrating the potential to serve as a new standard of care. Over 26 weeks, the highest dose of deupirfenidone studied was generally well-tolerated and reduced lung function decline to levels that approach natural lung function decline in healthy adults over sixty—a first for any investigational or approved treatment for IPF. We’re incredibly excited for what deupirfenidone could offer the IPF community, which urgently needs new treatment options with better efficacy that don’t compromise on tolerability. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the ELEVATE IPF trial, including patients, caregivers, clinical trial sites, and advocacy groups. It’s been weirdly quiet over Two Tier Keir’s Ukranian arsonist scandal. But now two of the young Ukranian models have put in a Not Guilty plea. That’s awkward for Keir as unless something changes it means it will go to trial AND all the details could come out as the defence will mount a case and call witnesses. The next hearing is at the end of November and trial scheduled for end of April. What’s the betting something mysterious stops the trial..

Ketogenic diets in the ICU? The research is beginning to explore it. In a randomized controlled trial of 40 patients with sepsis, investigators tested a medically supervised ketogenic diet during critical illness. All patients in the ketogenic group achieved stable nutritional ketosis, with no serious adverse events attributed to the intervention. After day four, none of the ketogenic patients required insulin — compared to 35–60% of patients in the control group on any given day. The ketogenic group also experienced: • More ventilator-free days • More vasopressor-free days • More dialysis-free days • More ICU-free days Researchers observed signals consistent with reduced immune dysregulation and lower inflammatory signaling — a meaningful finding in a condition defined by metabolic chaos and systemic inflammation. This was a small, early-phase trial. It does not establish standard of care. But it adds to a growing body of evidence that metabolic therapy may have applications beyond chronic disease — including critical care. I met liver physiotherapist Ashlea Hargreaves and Charlotte Vockins, a liver transplant patient and ExaLT trial participant who is now a leading advocate for liver health policy. With waiting lists already down by 86,000, we’re committed to rebuilding the NHS, backing staff and investing in the care patients rely on.
