On the contrary, they make all the sense in the world. Spanish "hoy", French "hui" (never used without "aujourd'"), Italian "oggi" all come from the Latin "hodie", which is an abbreviation of "hoc die" = "on this day".

Other languages use the same word for "Morning" and "Tommorow" German : "Morgen" Japanese : "Ashita"
