President Zelenskyy: You know, in Ukraine, it is said, "Everybody remembers only the last words." My last words have been several times to President Trump, "Don't forget about our defense, don't forget about Patriots." This is very important for us during this winter. Friends, in order to survive this winter, we need not just generators (which are very important) but also air defense - this is crucial to stop Russia from destroying more and more of Ukrainian infrastructure. The more air defense systems and missiles for them Ukraine has, the safer Ukrainian civilians will be. The more lives will be saved.

Russia's war of aggression has shattered peace in Europe and around the globe and struck at the very core of the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of international law - sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-use of force. Russia's war of aggression is imperial and neo-colonial in nature. What Russia, the Kremlin, wants to do is to divide the world into spheres of influence and to make Ukraine a satellite. Russia will not succeed. Russia miscalculated gravely in 2014 when it started its aggression against Ukraine, thinking that Ukraine would collapse. Russia miscalculated gravely in 2022 when it started its full-scale invasion, thinking that Ukraine would collapse. And Russia miscalculates gravely now, in February 2026, thinking that it is betting on time and Ukraine would collapse. Ukraine resists and defends itself, and we are not alone. However, despite peace efforts led by the US and supported by Europe, Russia continues to demonstrate no genuine willingness to stop this aggression. ◾️ These four years have come at an immense and tragic cost for Ukraine and for the Ukrainian people. We need to step up our countermeasures against these attacks. We are preparing for meetings with partners to strengthen our defense against this Russian terror. The G7, EU, and NATO summits are ahead. And it is very important that these negotiations result in concrete decisions. We expect meaningful meetings with our partners. First and foremost, we need support for air defense and our long-range capabilities, an expansion of cooperation in the Drone Deals format, and further strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia. We must end this war in a dignified way and with guaranteed security. And it is through strength, the unity of partners, and pressure on Russia that this can be achieved in a lasting way. There will be a briefing from Secretary Umerov and our negotiating team on their contacts that have already taken place. General Hnatov and representatives of Ukraine’s defense and security sector will be working on the details of security guarantees for Ukraine, for Ukrainians. At the same time, Ukrainian government officials continue discussions with the United States and Europe on the real recovery and real development of Ukraine after the war. Most importantly, I will be meeting with envoys of President Trump, and there will also be meetings with our European partners, with many leaders, concerning the foundation of peace – a political agreement to end the war. The chance is considerable at this moment, and it matters for our every city, for our every Ukrainian community. We are working to ensure that peace for Ukraine is dignified, and to secure a guarantee – a guarantee, above all, that Russia will not return to Ukraine for a third invasion. I thank all partners who are helping us – helping Ukraine. The situation in Kharkiv is very harsh. Russian terror is constant. Russians began using guided aerial bombs against the city almost daily. We are looking for ways to increase Kharkiv's ability to protect the sky. This is a task for both our military and diplomats, who are in charge of international communication and must maintain daily dialogue with partners. Ukraine clearly lacks sufficient air defense systems, and this is evident to all of our partners. The world must finally feel the pain caused by Russian terrorists in Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Donetsk region towns, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy region, and many other Ukrainian communities. There are air defense systems around the world that can help. Only political will is required to transfer them to Ukraine. I am grateful to the countries that have already helped. Being active in completing this task is the personal responsibility of our diplomats who work in these areas and with countries that have the necessary systems. Russia is increasing its presence there at an alarming rate which is very dangerous for this region. ◾️ In the coming month, the Russians will probably try to solve the "Kursk issue" at any cost. The "deadline" is likely set before the US elections at most but a desirable timeline for them is before the BRICS summit in Kazan (22-24 October) - to demonstrate to the BRICS guests that Russia is in control of the situation and is a serious partner. Otherwise, the situation when a part of Russia's territory is under Ukrainian control (when Putin had the intention to capture Ukraine "in three days" almost three years ago), is rather humiliating for Russia. During August and September, Russians have accumulated forces, have reformed and will now try to counterattack our troops. How the situation in Kursk region will develop depends on many factors and on the decisions that AFU leaders will make. ◾️ One of the key elements of these upcoming months are the elections in Moldova and Georgia at the end of October, where the influence of Russia and pro-Russian forces is enormous. ◾️We are likely to hear increased nuclear threats and other escalation rhetoric from Russia. ◾️Ukraine will face further problems due to electricity shortage. ◾️ Due to the escalation in the Middle East and the US elections, Ukraine is fading from the information field, which Russia is actively using, knowing that its crimes against Ukrainian civilians will not make the headlines in the Western media. Accordingly, many people outside Ukraine have the impression that the situation is getting better. But this is not the case at all: the situation is very tough and complicated. And it will continue to get worse. The largest war in Europe since the Second World War continues to rage on. The whole world is waiting for the US elections. The situation of strategic uncertainty will last at least until November. It is crucial to go through this period with a cool head, keeping the focus on Ukraine and showing Russia that the West does not withdraw its support. I'd like to end with a reminder of these Putin's words, which he said in June 2024. Nothing has changed for him: he intends to wage a war until the end. And it must become his own end.
