Monbiot's opening argument was basically the same "grazed and confused" argument made by FCRN in their 2017 white paper. I noted the shortcomings of FCRN's paper in this 2018 blog response: So FCRN's white paper was a meta-analysis of old soil science papers that didn't account for microbiology plus that white paper also didn't account for hydroxyl oxidation. Given how much soil science has progressed in the past 10 years due to new metagenomic & metscriptonomic tools, meta-analysis of soil science papers from 10 to 20 years ago is largely a pointless exercise.

Every time I speak or listen to Shashi Kumar from Akshayakalpa Organic, I learn something new about food, health, and sustainability. A few things I learned recently: 1. Antibiotic resistance is a global health threat. Due to overuse, germs have become resistant to antibiotics, leading to health complications and deaths. The non-obvious way in which we ingest antibiotics is through dairy and meat. For example, cows that are always tied down tend to catch diseases quickly, and the use of antibiotics becomes necessary to treat them. If a cow is treated with antibiotics, 40% of it shows up in the milk. 2. Death of bees Bees are excellent pollinators, and beekeeping on AK farms has considerably increased coconut yields. Unfortunately, most bee colonies die due to the use of pesticides, habitat loss, and parasites. 3. Loss of organic carbon Organic carbon in soil has dropped to an alarming low of 1%. It needs to be much higher for sustainable farming. The lower the organic carbon content, the lower the fertility of the soil, and the lower the nutrition profile of the produce. An orange from 50 years ago had a much better nutrition profile than today's. For example, one orange from then is better than three oranges today. One way to increase the organic carbon in the soil is to move to more sustainable practices when farming, i.e., organic farming. But today, subsidies on fertilizers and seeds make organic more expensive. Also, consumer support doesn’t exist; maybe if consumers cared about the nutrition profile of what we consume, there would be more demand for organic, and at scale, the price could also drop. AK farms are at 3.6%, took 13 years. We have to change this trend. Maybe it will if younger and more educated folks take up farming and such conversations become mainstream. Farmers definitely need to be able to keep higher margins on their produce and need easy access to credit. AK is trying to solve some of these issues. At 200 PPM OF CO2, all plant life DIES. Companies use a Carbon dioxide generator to reach these conditions of 600 - 1000 PPM : (1) To increase yield by 30% or MORE (2) To produce an earlier harvest (3) To improve plants resistance to DISEASE and PESTS (4) If we increase CO2 in the atmosphere, we get OPTIMAL farming conditions (5) If we DECREASE CO2 in the atmosphere, we get an ICE AGE and DEATH of most life on the planet Isn’t it crazy that we are using billions of dollars of our own tax money to potentially cause death to most life on this planet? In light of the names Anneke Lucas mentioned, like the former Canadian prime minister who is dead now, but is the father of the current one. It is being shared all over the internet now. Canadian accounts are posting this, and it is getting lots of attention. This is also a wake-up call for Canada. A lot of people in Canada are commenting on social media that they are shocked by this guy being named. But actually he was already mentioned by Cathy O'Brien in 1995, as being involved in these networks! See the video below. So there is corroboration between these witnesses. A lot of these former and now deceased prime ministers she mentions were, at that time that she was in it in the 70s, involved in this. Also the Belgian one that Anneke names, and was also named by other witnesses. Which tells us, like these witnesses say, this was a global network. So the truth was already out there a bit, but it is coming out more for a bigger public. We will have more revelations coming out in 2025 about these dark dealing that have been going on at the highest levels, I'm sure. This is going to be a shock for a lot of people that are new to this information, because it is reaching a bigger public. Some will choose not to believe it, do no research, and look no further. But a lot more people will wake up to this, it is unstoppable. Of course, we have to check in with our own vibration. If it gets too heavy, take some time out and go for a walk in nature. 10 years ago my focus was growing “400 bushel corn” … it gets a lot of attention, but it’s unpractical. The laws of diminishing returns cost you more than it gains you. Today I focus on capturing more value from free things. Attributes are assets if you can employ them. We’re finishing up our relay beans with the last pass here. For you to be in the right frame of mind you have to leave the mindset of maximizing monocrop yields and instead maximizing acre yield efficiently. Each day is hyper critical in the profitability of this system… that’s why even when we reach that peak ultimate practice efficiency… we’ll still be maxed at maybe 30-40% of our acres. I can only do things great within the constraints of time. 10 years ago my focus was growing “400 bushel corn” … it gets a lot of attention, but it’s unpractical. The laws of diminishing returns cost you more than it gains you. Today I focus on capturing more value from free things. Attributes are assets if you can employ them. We’re finishing up our relay beans with the last pass here. For you to be in the right frame of mind you have to leave the mindset of maximizing monocrop yields and instead maximizing acre yield efficiently. Each day is hyper critical in the profitability of this system… that’s why even when we reach that peak ultimate practice efficiency… we’ll still be maxed at maybe 30-40% of our acres. The onions form underground, however they also form bunches of small onions on top, called top sets. What if you could visualise how electricity flows from a wind farm in Scotland to your home in London? Ok it's not quite that simple, but it got me thinking that there must be a way of visualising the complexity of the electricity transmission grid in Great Britain. This is my first attempt… What you're seeing are the real power lines and substations on the transmission grid using OpenStreetMap data. The real connections between each substation are found using PyPSA-Eur as well as calculating the "electrical distance" or impedance between each substation. This is my incredibly basic and naive way of attempting to show the "speed" at which the energy is moving through the network, where the bottlenecks are, etc. I know it's not as simple as this, but it's a first attempt so… 😉 I've also added a way to pick any substation in the network and show how electricity pulses through the rest of the network from that point. This is the magic sauce that really brings to life how much infrastructure electricity has to pass through to get from point A to point B. Of course this isn't really what happens, and there's no demand to soak up the energy. However I think it still serves as an interesting visual of how complex the network actually is and the distances involved to get energy from one side of the country to the other. What do you think? It’s funny how the people complaining about climate change never explain or encourage people to help the problem. They just say that driving a car and existing is the issue. Well, “climate change” is a surprisingly easy fix. People would be surprised how malleable and engineerable the land and environment is. The key is to slow down wind and water. Just like in an impact, the airbag extends time. Even fractions of a second. To lower damage. Same with water and wind. This allows for roots to lock in the moving sand. Sand is just the foundation of soil. Like an empty condo building waiting to be filled. Once drought tolerant plants take hold they start a cycle that literally pulls water from the ground and the air to create cycles of rain. This breaths life which creates organic matter to populate the sand. The neverending infinite sun sparks cycle of growth that requires no input. Here’s where you come in. Ironically, just grasslands or just forests don’t have as much life as the boundary heavy mix and matched grid of human villages and farms. Just like in a coral reef by the shoreline, maximum life exists at the boundary between two worlds. That differential is how energy is made. China is plugging their weakness. Food. Will America face its weakness? Productivity?

A Muslim Minister can ask a maulana to come and recite Quran verses while he is taking oath as Minister!!! Once upon a time #Uttarakhand was known for its jal, jungle and jameen; not anymore. Hardly a day or two passes before some video or the other from #Dehradun or some other district does not go viral in the state. In this recent video, we are being informed that this is the area of Maldevta in the outskirts of Dehradun. It's a short clip of less than a minute and I would like to both request and encourage you to see it fully. The one who has made the video is giving details about the location, the sorry state of the river, the upcoming resort and ongoing plotting, the lack of supervision and the presence of bhu mafia. The narrator ends with the painful and usual refrain of how the state is going to the dogs. I don't usually like to tag people and particularly the CM of our state Pushkar Singh Dhami but I do make some exceptions sometimes. In this particular case, I not only request but also ask Mr. Chief Minister to look into this. It's equally important to question why so many violations are happening in our state and that too so rapidly. Just last week we saw the audacious attempt to literally hijack the reserved forest of #Khalanga in Dehradun by a Rishikesh based builder. If you need regulatory support from @bypadavbjp or MoEF&CC; I am sure they will lend a helping hand. As a nation how can we aspire to become a super power if any tom, dick and harry can have the courage to simply walk in and trample across our sacred land, forests and rivers. I want to close by saying that these "dacoits of environment" who are defiling the pure and pious soul of Uttarakhand need to be taught a harsh lesson. If I were you, I would show these people the might of the state and ensure that not an inch of our state owned land would be raped and plundered. Once upon a time #Uttarakhand was known for its jal, jungle and jameen; not anymore. Hardly a day or two passes before some video or the other from #Dehradun or some other district does not go viral in the state. In this recent video, we are being informed that this is the area of Maldevta in the outskirts of Dehradun. It's a short clip of less than a minute and I would like to both request and encourage you to see it fully. The one who has made the video is giving details about the location, the sorry state of the river, the upcoming resort and ongoing plotting, the lack of supervision and the presence of bhu mafia. The narrator ends with the painful and usual refrain of how the state is going to the dogs. I don't usually like to tag people and particularly the CM of our state Pushkar Singh Dhami but I do make some exceptions sometimes. In this particular case, I not only request but also ask Mr. Chief Minister to look into this. It's equally important to question why so many violations are happening in our state and that too so rapidly. Just last week we saw the audacious attempt to literally hijack the reserved forest of #Khalanga in Dehradun by a Rishikesh based builder. If you need regulatory support from @bypadavbjp or MoEF&CC; I am sure they will lend a helping hand. As a nation how can we aspire to become a super power if any tom, dick and harry can have the courage to simply walk in and trample across our sacred land, forests and rivers. I want to close by saying that these "dacoits of environment" who are defiling the pure and pious soul of Uttarakhand need to be taught a harsh lesson. If I were you, I would show these people the might of the state and ensure that not an inch of our state owned land would be raped and plundered. 60 years ago, Ronald Reagan gave Americans a warning that has stood the test of time. This is from Reagan's "Time for Choosing" speech: "If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth. And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except to sovereign people, is still the newest and most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election. Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves." But the probable lifespan of civilization and consciousness, as we know it, which we should really view as this very delicate thing, like a small candle in a vast darkness, that is what appears to be the case. We're in this vast darkness of space, and there's this little candle of consciousness that's only really come about after 4.5 billion years. And it could just go out. I think that's powerful, and I think a lot of people will be inspired by that vision. And so the reason you need the million people is because there has to be enough people there to do everything that you need to survive. The critical threshold is, if the ships from Earth stop coming for any reason, does the Mars city die out or not? We have to pass that. People talk about the great filters, the things that perhaps, you know, we talk about the Fermi paradox and where are the aliens, and, well, maybe there is various great filters that the aliens didn't pass, and so they eventually just cease to exist. If conservatism is not ultimately about economics, what is it about? 'The defence of the West.' This, in one short, simple phrase is as near as I can come to expressing the overall mission of conservatives now. That defence involves securing our nations against internal and external threats alike. I shall enlarge on those threats in a minute. But what are the core convictions we are defending? Not having time to pen a treatise, or even speak as long as a German politician, I shall set out my views with English brevity. We conservatives believe that man has a basic sense of right and wrong and an amazing creativity when free to apply his talents; but we also believe that his nature is flawed, such that without restraints applied by convention and law he will destroy himself and others. We believe in free, limited democratic government, as the framework most likely to minimise opportunities for mischief and abuse of power; but we scorn the association of vox populi with vox dei, knowing that no mere majority vote can make what is good bad or what is bad good. We understand that in some areas government has to be strong. It has to be prepared to use force to defend the nation's security. We appreciate the majesty and rituals and pomp of the state, operating in its proper sphere. But we also believe that what is public ultimately exists for what is private—that it is the family (not the state or nation or even the Church), which is the basic institution of our society, without which all the rest collapses. We are suspicious of attempts at institutional change, unless those institutions have become in their present form a threat to the whole future of the country—as the trade unions and nationalised industries were, for instance, in Britain when I became Prime Minister. We view the world in which we live as in need, not of re-ordering according to master plans devised by enlightened experts, but rather of constant renewal according to timeless truths and rich traditions. And so we are unashamedly patriots. For as Edmund Burke wrote two hundred years ago: “To be attached to the sub-division, to love the little platoon to which we belong in society, is the first principle of public affection. It is the first link in the series by which we proceed towards a love of our country and to mankind”. So here we stand. Rock solid. Rooted in a clear, tried, tested view of the world and the heavens and everything in them.
