When the Dead would trip off into one of their dazzling live cosmic jams, lead singer Bobby was the ringmaster who knew when to grab everyone and guide them back down to earth. On his own solo music he upheld the Dead’s communal spirit and was always willing to share the spotlight with talented musicians. In recent years Weir fronted the post-Jerry Garcia/Phil Lesh version of the Dead and introduced the group’s music and vibe to new generations of Dead Heads. The band played a two show run at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA, where they would also record the Touch of Grey music video. On this date in 1983, The groundbreaking short film for Michael Jackson "Beat It" had its world premiere on MTV, Heavy rotation propelled the song to #1 marking a pivotal moment in breaking down racial barriers on music television. "Beat It" was the second video from Thriller to receive major rotation on MTV, following "Billie Jean," and it eventually won Record of the Year at the 1984 Grammy Awards. MJ spent approximately $150,000 of his own money to fund the video after the record label initially declined to finance the project, Directed by Bob Giraldi and filmed on Los Angeles' Skid Row. This morning, Jerry and his lady friend were eating some peanuts and seeds I put out for them. I went out to say hi to Jerry, and of course the female ran off because she doesn’t know or trust me. Jerry stayed for a few seconds and let me give him a little pet, but then he took off and followed his girl. This may sound silly, but at first I was sad Jerry left, but I am happy he’s found a mate and is fully embracing his life in the wild. I knew this would eventually happen, but it’s really exciting to see him begin his own squirrel family and to be free in nature.

A video from the Hanumana check post in #Mauganj district of #MadhyaPradesh has gone viral on social media, showing a man attempting to extort money from a truck driver by climbing onto his vehicle. Instead of giving in, the driver continued driving while the extortionist clung to the moving truck, pleading for him to stop.
