TCU QB Josh Hoover can play 👀 Sharp processor who throws with anticipation & keeps his eyes downfield when the pocket heats up. Works the MOF & gets to his backside read more often than any '26 QB I've watched besides Nuss. Rarely takes sacks but has no problem taking a hit if he needs to buy time for a route to develop. Also has a flexible release & can change his arm slot/release speed in the face of pressure. He's a very accurate deep passer but wanna see more consistent ball placement within 10 yards.

Just a two-star recruit out of Miami, FL, Fernando Mendoza was initially slated to go Yale before switching late to Cal. And after an 8-game starting season in 2023, he emerged as a bonafide NFL QB prospect during the 2024 season. And he enters the Big Ten (now at Indiana Football) and the 2025 #NFLDraft process as a QB Draft fans need to get to know: I’d bet on his continued ascent up boards over the next 10 months. Mendoza’s film last year has a LOT to be excited about, from his pocket navigation, deep ball placement, and high release point allowing him to pinpoint at all three levels with control. But what really jumps out in studying Mendoza: his toughness. He faced ample pressure last year and was as good as any quarterback with pressure in his face and finishing through contact as a passer. On plays where he had less than 2.5 seconds to throw, Mendoza was top-5 in the FBS last year in Completion % (min 250 attempts), behind players like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. As you can see in the plays below, Mendoza has the size/arm talent to complete passes with rushers muddying the pocket and/or hitting him, and the rare placement and control to complete those passes at a high level He’s one of just seven FBS returning starters who faced pressure on 170+ snaps. The QB he’s replacing, Kurtis Rourke, faced pressure on a little less than half of Mendoza’s. Back in September, I tweeted out asking if Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson was the most slept on QB in this draft class and with a thinned out crop, he's probably going to be a Top 5 QB in this draft class for me when my big board drops. 6’4, 225 lbs., an arm that oozes talent displaying good touch on deep balls and with the ability to layer the ball over second level defenders. He can drive the ball real well with great velocity, make throws off platform and really, can threaten all three levels. I think he doesn’t get enough credit for his pocket presence and overall feel for it plus he’s mobile enough to create out of structure. Robertson does need to be more consistent with his accuracy and I think that starts with him needing to be coached up mechanically because you see the baseball background impact his lower and upper body mechanics at times on tape. But if you’re talking about taking a Day 3 flier on a QB who you can develop and isn’t expected to start immediately, Robertson fits the bill as one of a few intriguing options in this draft. #PhinsUp

I give all the credit in the world to Russell Wilson for making this marriage between he and Sean Payton successful. I mean, the world loves Russell Wilson because he’s a great husband, & some of those traits he’s used to once again become a winning QB. He no longer takes the bad sacks, he protects the ball, & when his team needs him he even cooks a little bit. It’s a remarkable turn around for both Russ & the Broncos. All because Russ learned how, “to want to wash the dishes”. Coachability is key both on and off the field!

Been watching a lot of footage of 2028 QB and now Alabama commit Charles Scott Jr. According to 247 in 2025 the 6’5, 255 lb sophomore threw for around 3,600 yards and 41 TDS on 178 completions. Only throwing 4 INTs!!! Scott Jr (son of his high school coach) has obvious massive upside given his size. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that already as a sophomore, he has an SEC build. The Good: - Kid is LARGE, much like Alabama’s recent five star commit Elijah Haven, Scott’s size allows him a full view of everything going on around him on the field. Mechanics benefit from his size - strong throwing platform. - Flashes plenty of natural strengths, including an explosive arm that doesn’t seem to have to work very hard to push the ball vertically. - Even as a developing HS quarterback, Scott Jr already shows a lot of finesse. Accuracy in highlight tape (provided below from Scottboyz on YouTube) is on the upswing, especially on layered and touch passes. - Although not technically a massive run threat, Scott Jr, given his size, can stress defenders on the ground, especially in short yardage situations. Areas for Refinement: - Shows promise with timing routes, but will get better as he matures over the next couple of season. - Mechanics are not fully polished as to be expected from a young QB, but raw traits still shine. Footwork under pressure! - Will grow into faster processing speeds as he continues his path. Will need this as he makes the talent jump to the SEC. All-in-all, this is a rising recruit in the 2028 class - one that will garner a ton of attention over the next several months, especially now that Alabama fully seated at the head of the table. Another potential eval masterclass from Kalen DeBoer, Ryan Grubb, and Bryan Ellis. The scheme fit for Scott Jr is perfect at Alabama. The size and arm talent are there, with touch on the way. Combined with intangibles such as high football IQ (coaches son) and a very strong relationship with Tide staff - this is a solid pickup for Alabama. The QB position remains in great hands moving forward in Tuscaloosa.

Carr has also been a major reason for Baylor’s 3-0 start Carr is one of the best athletes and shooters in the class, he’s great at getting to his spots off the catch and has an extremely quick jumper, he’s also a great cutter who finishes at an elite level and can also drive to the rim. On the defensive end Carr is a versatile defender who’s strong off ball and has the vertical athleticism to defend multiple positions. The Final Drive of the Eagles-49ers game exposed the Eagles' major flaws offensively - High School route concepts: Kevin Patullo is calling plays around the weaknesses of his QB. He should be gone ASAP - Jalen Hurts must do a better job of staying in the pocket. He consistently ran out of a clean pocket when his OL was great is pass pro. He was not good - AJ Brown FOLDED - Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith showed up - DeVonta dropped the ball on 3rd & 11... he's got to make that catch. But Hurts also threw a hospital ball that made it even harder - Nick Sirianni called a timeout on 4th & 11 and Patullo's play design was 4 vertical routes against Cover 4 in the red zone... that's fireable offense and coaching malpractice The coaches and players simply did not answer the bell

He was not good - AJ Brown FOLDED - Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith showed up - DeVonta dropped the ball on 3rd & 11... he's got to make that catch. But Hurts also threw a hospital ball that made it even harder - Nick Sirianni called a timeout on 4th & 11 and Patullo's play design was 4 vertical routes against Cover 4 in the red zone... that's fireable offense and coaching malpractice The coaches and players simply did not answer the bell

Chicago Bears: The Deep Ball Façade As a Chicago Bears truther, I gotta keep it 💯 There are many Bears fans posting “Amazing” out of the pocket deep ball highlights of Caleb Williams Obviously, we don’t see those kinds of throws everyday. It’s insane!! But deep ball playmaking isn’t new to Chicago. Nor is it the focal point of Ben Johnson’s offense. If the Bears are going to be great, we have to become more efficient from the pocket. Pass percentage must go up, time in pocket must come down. Living outside the pocket will hinder our ability to be efficient and to win a Super Bowl #1 Deep Ball was always there Justin Fields in 2023 had one of the most efficient deep balls in the league. Not only that, the majority of his deep balls came from the pocket which is what you want from your QB. As good as the Bears were as a whole last year, the deep ball was far more efficient in 2023. But living on the deep ball and living out the pocket comes with limitations. We have to focus on the fundamentals #2 Ben Johnson is the catalyst Similar to 2023, Bears offense in 2024 had explosive plays followed by inconsistent offense and inept situational football by the head coach Poor offensive line, poor offensive scheme, and inept head coach were the core issues. Ryan Poles thought QB was the main issue and then 2024 happened. We learned quick that it takes more than a talented QB to win football games. Ben Johnson has alleviated all of those concerns. He has made Bears offensive line the focal point! His scheme has been top of the league since he became OC in Detroit. And his situational football awareness far superior than Eberflus. Bears fans must recognize that Ben Johnson is the catalyst of the Bears offensive turnaround, and team success. Now give him what he needs! He wants 3 tight ends? Give it to him He wants more Luther Burden? Give it to him He wants more efficiency out of his QB? Let’s make that the focal point.. #3 Ben Johnson needs a point guard at QB Efficiency in the pocket, time to throw, and passing EPA are far more important to Ben Johnson’s offense than out of pocket deep balls. We need Caleb to be that killer still, but it’s the fundamentals that will allow Bears to take the next step. This offense doesn’t need a Michael Jordan at QB. Ben Johnson would much rather have an Isiah Thomas at QB because this offense has enough Bad Boys to get the job done. Feed the WRs! Get the ball out of your hands quicker! Allow deep ball to be the counter punch of the offense. #4 It’s all there.. The pre-snap awareness, post snap awareness, efficiency from pocket, and pass velocity all scream franchise QB. When you look at Caleb Williams in the pocket on short to intermediate passes, it looks effortless. The ball leaves his hand lightning quick, it’s placed where it’s supposed to be, and WR is able to make a play after the catch. We have to see more of this and it starts now. CW has to trust Ben Johnson’s offense and his WRs more. Conclusion: If we wanted a QB to scramble and throw deep balls, Justin Fields would still be a Chicago Bear What makes Caleb unique, is that he can be a hunter down the field but also has the upside to be a Drew Brees type of QB in the pocket. I rather see more clips of Caleb playing in rhythm and in the pocket , than deep bombs out the pocket. There will be struggles, but that’s ok. I much rather see our QB struggle making the right throws in OTAs than masking it with his gift as an out the pocket thrower.

Cody Peck is a player who I think has been drastically undervalued in the 2026 rankings (Unranked on ESPN, 247Sports, and On3) despite his unique skillset. His ability to stretch the floor as a 6’10” wing has not only drawn serious D1 attention but also will receive plenty of looks for the next level. Peck’s performance at the City of Palms Classic semifinal against Columbus Explorers certainly strengthened his case to climb up the rankings as he finished with 11 points on 4-of-6 from the field (3-for-5 from 3) and three blocks. While SD Mines dropped a 52-50 heartbreaker in a 4 OT shootout against Michigan Tech, Mines’ Redshirt Senior QB Jake Martinelli absolutely balled out! Martinelli completed 39 of 61 passes for 443 yards and 5 TDs and gained another 62 yards on the ground. While Martinelli threw 1 INT, I’ve watched it over and over, and quite simply, the officials got the call wrong. Mines’ Redshirt Junior WR Mason Galbreath was a major contributor to Martinelli’s tremendous game as he pulled in 10 catches for 160 yards and 1 TD. Mines’ Junior WR Colton Grover contributed another 40 receiving yards on 3 catches, 2 of which were for TDs. The defense was led by Senior LB Hunter Newsom, who recorded 7 tackles (5 Solo & 2 Ast), with 3 tackles for a loss. Despite the loss, SD Mines’ offense was impressive! The defense, for a second straight week played great in the 1st half as they held Michigan Tech to just 7 points going into halftime. With the consistence that will come from game time experience and repetition, this team is going to win a lot of games this Fall!
