Full Metal Jacket released 39 years ago today. 26 June 1987 🃏

@drawandstrike The ever iconic R Lee Ermy. That movie would not have been what it was without him.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman was a real marine the movie was good but the beginning half of the movie with him was the best part

This movie changed my life perspective as kid!

R Lee Ermey definitely gave a memorable performance in this

I was maybe 2-weeks into Army basic when it was released. Watched it on the first weekend pass near end of training. Epic…

I didn’t know they stacked shit that high.

Classic! ❤️

Modine was so '80s!

@drawandstrike

Coincidentally this military masterpiece was also released on this date - in 1981. Quite a date (June 26) for military movies!!!

Top 5 movie! Stanley was the perfect director for this film! No one! NO ONE could've done a better job directing this film! The cast was INCREDIBLE! Mathew and Vincent absolutely stole the show! Robert Lee was the finishing touch! 10 outa 10! This movie will never get ild!

Classic R Lee Emery he is missed 👍

Hartman: "How tall are you, Private?" Cowboy: "SIR, FIVE FOOT NINE, SIR!" Hartman: "Five foot nine? I didn't know they stacked shit that high? You tryin' to squeeze in an inch on me somewhere, huh?"

I rewatched this again last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I remember watching it when it first came out. I used to run into Matthew Modine all the time at Real Foods Daily in Pasadena, California.

"Is that you John Wayne is this me "

Didn't know they stack shit that high.

Awesome Movie. When I did basic, I found them clowns yelling at me hilarious. I was never intimidated.

One of the best!

@MatthewModine featuring the talents of Matthew Modine, R. Lee Emery, and debuting the career of Vincent D'Onofrio @vincentdonofrio

You don't scare me!

Such an intense film. One of the best war movies ever made. R Lee Ermey steals the show even though he only appears for a brief time on screen.
