fully remote over mandatory in-office is still a hill I will absolutely die on: > if we only hired people from LA, we probably would have failed years ago > we find THE most talented person for the job - I don’t care where they’re located > it’s archaic...

I have been doing remote for several years now and i work more than I ever have but skip the commute and the part that annoy me. I think for the right person it's ideal. Hire the right person.

Smart move and a huge competitive advantage. Bigger talent pool to choose from, happier employees, it's a win for everybody.

Caveat is you lose out on all of the dynamism generated by physically being with other people. Infinitely tougher to get people to truly trust each other through a screen.

The pros of fully remote outweigh the cons. I'd love to be fully in person but it really doesn't make sense in today's world.

Remote is not a perk when the company is designed around it. It is an access strategy for talent. The failure usually starts when leaders keep remote hiring but manage as if everyone is still in one room. What practice made the biggest difference for your team?

Yeah, like, even my agents are remote. People need to get with the program. IMO all the diehard come-to-the-office people tend to be jocks and dinosaurs—often both.

massive +1 for this but ai is creating a huge problem for brands to be confident in the quality of candidates. we screen thousands of Amazon applicants each month, and cheating during interviews is a huge problem - have you see this?

Have seen this happen in SF as well, the cost to value ratio is so bad compared to other places

I enjoy remote as well. How do you see your team adapting to still getting human interactions? I find I prefer to go into a co-working space roughly half the week to not be isolated in my home. Deep work is great. I still get a lot of value from the human interactions though.

The value of retention (esp in the early years) is hugely underrated in the remote vs in-office debate

When a major product crisis or high-stakes strategic pivot happens, can you build deep institutional trust and alignment entirely over scheduled Zoom calls?

High agency human comes from all color and cultural backgrounds as well. As long as they speak the common language of business aka english, technology makes it just easier for talents to work across borders. I think theres tremendous value to do certain things in person. But not all the time either.

That's your take. Your experience. Your policy. Wonderful. But circumstances are different for every company, business & person. What works for you may not work somewhere else, for someone else. Why does everything always have to be framed as "what's good for me is good for thee"

I agree with this post. It's super ineffective to require on-site work in 2026. I would even argue that office workers waste MORE time than remote workers. When I worked at an office, many co-workers would appear to be busy until they could go home. That doesn't happen in remote work.
