Is the Supreme Court ruling on the impeachment of Sara Zimmerman Duterte based on erroneous facts? I was there! I didn’t miss the chance to witness history — I can say for a fact that the ruling of the Supreme Court was based on erroneous facts and anyone can check it via the Livestream of the House of Representatives that day. February 5, 2025. One of the things which concerns me here is the additional requirement that came out of nowhere— not in the 1987 Constitution and not even in the existing ruling of the Supreme Court. Speaker Martin Romualdez in an interview yesterday said that the House of Representatives followed the existing precedent also from the Supreme Court — the Francisco and Gutierrez ruling. How can the House follow something that doesn’t exist during that time? Please make sense. Atty. Princess Abante released an explainer video explaining the factual truth about what transpired in the House of Representatives on February 5. Aside from the House Journal and official reports, the public can easily check the livestream of the House of Representatives. I don’t care if the Supreme Court ruling was written by an Aquino appointee because it doesn’t make sense to me at all! Please take time to watch the video — Atty. When decisions are driven by ideology rather than constitutional principle, the integrity of our legal system is at risk. She tried to turn it into a $134 billion reckoning, but Bessent came armed with the facts. She was left scrambling. BASH: “I do want to start with the big question. Will you refund the roughly $134 billion in revenue taken by these emergency tariffs?” BESSENT: “Well Dana that’s not the big question.” BESSENT: “Let’s just level set here what the Supreme Court did was a very narrow reading of the president’s authority under the IEEPA tariffs. BESSENT: “We have other tariff authorities which have been functioning section 232 tariffs, section 301 tariffs and Dana, when you say it’s a big question, that’s bad framing because the Supreme Court didn’t even address that.” BESSENT: “The Supreme Court remanded it down to a lower court.” BESSENT: “And we will follow what they say but that that could be weeks or months when we hear them. “I care deeply that the American people have an entire picture of what is at stake in this election. And where we are right now, after that debate, is not giving us that picture,” says historian Heather Cox Richardson (TDPR). “It is my expectation, following the Supreme Court’s recent decisions, that that balance may be restored. But if it isn’t restored from the higher reaches of our government and from the media, the American people sure better do it themselves. “Because we have five months to make sure that we get to the 250th anniversary of the American republic. The issue which is going on very prominently these days is that Instagram is promoting the videos of child sexual abuse. On 23rd September 2024, the Supreme Court gave a landmark judgment, Just Rights for Children Alliance versus State of Tamil Nadu. In the judgment, the Supreme Court has clearly said that the social media platforms which are allowing these videos to run should immediately stop them; not only stop the video, but they should also give the information to the police so that action can be taken under the POCSO Act against the person who has downloaded these videos and who has uploaded these videos also. And let me tell you, under this judgment, not only uploading the video is an offence, but downloading and seeing this video is also an offence. This was a case in Tamil Nadu. There is a young boy who had downloaded the child sexual abuse videos and was watching them, and now this is being posted. All the people who are using social media should know that it is being posted by many organisations. One of them is NCMEC in America. All those people who are downloading and watching child sexual abuse photos, they are immediately—the NCMEC learn about it, comes to know about it, and passes on the information to the Government of India, and criminal cases are started against the person who is downloading and watching such cases. The Supreme Court has passed a judgment, and the Supreme Court has said that anybody downloading or watching the child sexual abuse video, he is also liable for imprisonment under the POCSO Act. And the Supreme Court also, in the judgment, has said the intermediary is responsible not only to stop this video but also to inform the police. And if the intermediary does not inform the police, that is, a social media platform does not inform the police, then the social media platform is liable to be prosecuted. Criminal cases should be lodged against the social media platform under the POCSO Act. And in this case, in the Instagram case, not only do they stop the videos, they promote the videos, and they also file an application day-to-day in the Supreme Court. The directions of the Supreme Court are not being followed. In our application, the Supreme Court has issued notice to the Union of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Ministry of Law."
