Gary Lineker has broken no rules. He has been consistent. BBC management haven’t. They seem to be making it up as they go along - doing far more damage to the broadcaster’s reputation than the original tweet ever did.

Exactly where is the balance in this reporting as required by the BBC’s own guidelines? Not quotes from politicians who have supported his stance, reference to the “outrage” but not the outpouring of support. Shame on you

I can explain in less than 90 seconds. “Man does nothing wrong but BBC suspend him due to govt pressure.

“Gary is not involved in news or political output“ … so his views do not impact on BBC impartially … Seems, however when it suits, or told to, they do. #Lineker

Football clubs now won't speak to the BBC That is what you get for letting the Conservative Party take over the BBC, sack the whole BBC board and senior management Downing Street appointed.

It wasn't him expressing his 'opinions' - he was simply telling the truth. Just as Julian Assange was telling the truth, and revealing war crimes. People who reveal evil must be recognised & celebrated - not banned & imprisoned. The @BBC should champion freedom - not crush it.
