Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially commenced the nine-month performance review for the 2017 E.C. earlier today. The session began with a macroeconomic presentation, which provided an overview of the impact of global economic trends on the local economy, as well as an update on the progress of ongoing macroeconomic reforms. It was highlighted that the global economy is projected to grow by 3.3% in 2025, with most regions, including sub-Saharan Africa, showing positive trends. Ethiopia’s growth is forecasted at 8.4%. As a result of Ethiopia’s macroeconomic reform program aimed at fostering a stable macro environment, both savings and investments have shown an upward trajectory. The external debt-to-GDP ratio has significantly declined, currently standing at 13.7%. Furthermore, the introduction of a new foreign exchange regime has led to increased remittance inflows and a rise in foreign currency reserves. Export earnings from agriculture, mining, industry, and electricity have all seen an increase compared to the same period last year, with the top five export earners comprising coffee, gold, pulses, oilseeds, flowers, and electricity. The review also highlighted notable progress in key infrastructure and large-scale projects. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), for instance, has reached 98.66% completion, with six units currently operational. This morning’s presentation concluded with a review of sustainable development efforts, emphasising inclusivity as a key performance indicator. It also outlined initiatives aimed at creating an enabling environment for sustainable development. #PMOEthiopia

On the auspicious occasion of MahaShivRatri, offered Arghya at the Suryakund, one of the holy Theerthakunds at Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore, to help seekers experience the spiritual energy of the Dhyanalinga more profoundly. Also offered prayers to Shri Naga Devata and sought blessings. The Chandrakund (for women) and Suryakund (for men) are energized water bodies considered significant for straightening out pranic imbalances, enhancing physiological and psychological wellbeing, as well as heightening spiritual receptivity. The Chandrakund, created in a magnificent stone structure nearly 30 feet below ground level, and the Suryakund, about 20 feet deep and situated beneath a grand Surya idol, both offered a truly divine and serene experience. The spiritual moments experienced here on the holy day of MahaShivRatri brought renewed energy and inner peace.🙏 Amruta too joined me. Approximately 4km of roadway near the CBD is currently being resurfaced, with work progressing on this important transport corridor. During the visit, we assessed progress on site and engaged on the project scope, timelines, and the completion of remaining works, including road markings and resurfacing along sections still awaiting upgrades. Under the Presidential Hospital Rehabilitation Program, our efforts extend far beyond Parirenyatwa Hospital. Major upgrades are also underway at Mbuya Nehanda Hospital—now approximately 70 percent complete—as well as at Sally Mugabe Hospital and Mpilo Hospital. These projects represent some of the most significant investments in Zimbabwe’s public health infrastructure in recent years. According to Dr. Paul Tungwarara, all the hospitals currently under rehabilitation are expected to be completed and officially handed over before the end of this year. This accelerated progress reflects a strong commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the country. The ongoing work clearly demonstrates President ED Mnangagwa’s determination to advance the national development agenda and move the country closer to achieving Vision 2030. Strengthening the health sector is a key pillar of that vision, and these rehabilitation projects show tangible progress toward that goal. #CAB3
