Ted Cruz says President Trump has drawn a clear red line with Iran, zero enrichment and no blackmail in the Strait of Hormuz, warning any violation will bring serious consequences: “Now there is a pause in hostilities, and President Trump is absolutely right when he says what he expects of Iran is, number one, zero enrichment, and number two, that they hand over the enriched uranium they have right now. President Trump is right to draw that line and to insist upon that. And he’s been clear as well that Iran will open and keep open the Strait of Hormuz—they will not use it for negotiating or blackmail. And I think if they try to do so, the president’s threat remains very operative—that if they shut down the Strait of Hormuz, if they break this agreement, I think the president is prepared to take out Iran’s power generation and its bridges. Right now there is a game of chicken between the Islamic regime in Iran and President Trump. The regime is betting that midterm elections and rising oil prices will force him to back down. Trump is watching how economically paralyzed they are and waiting for them to cave or collapse. I escaped this regime at age 6. I can tell you no one inside Iran wants it in power. I believe Trump should hold the line. The safety of America for our generation and the next depends on it.

If anyone tells you the protests in Iran are merely “economic,” show them this video. In the city of Abdanan, protesters tore open bags of rice inside a shop owned by the IRGC and threw the rice into the air. Rice along with other basic food staples has become increasingly unaffordable for ordinary Iranians due to crushing inflation and the collapse of purchasing power. When people who struggle to put bread on the table refuse to take rice home, it is a political act. It is a rejection of humiliation, corruption, and a system that starves the people while enriching those in power.
