Happy Mother’s Day, Ship! 💐

On May 10 2002, pregnant with my oldest, I went into labor the Friday before Mother’s Day with contractions one on top the other. My body wouldn’t dilate so they tried everything, stopping the contractions, restarting them, my blood pressure rose, still wouldn’t dilate. On Mother’s Day, May 12, I was in tears, my mom was there and asked what was wrong. It was almost midnight & I said, “I’ll have to wait a whole year before my first Mother’s Day”…my mom told me “you’ve been a mother for the past 10 months” (he was 2 weeks late too) “when you finally have my grandchild, that will be the BEST day of all our lives, Mother’s Day is a Hallmark Holiday on the calendar, you know when Mother’s Day really is for you” …still not dilating but my blood pressure was still going up, his heart rate was going down and another 8 hours & 20 minutes later, I had to have a c-section…so I celebrate Mother’s Day May 13 with my son’s birthday. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone…
