George, don't do that..

Joyce Grenfell came to my school prize giving. I was overwhelmed as a 13 year old by this gracious, statuesque lady. She had time for everyone. I wish she was more well known and appreciated.

I re-read her books and listen to her monologues every year. Bordering on genius. Wish I could have met her.

I had occasion to use this very phrase at work today and can now enlighten all as to the nature of the 'that' George was doing. Climbing into a library display case to add a toy snowman to the knitted nativity.

Marvellous! She and Reggie we’re great friends of my parents! Dad played piano with her entertaining troops in the war!

Every one in college picked singers etc for their monologue we had to do I picked her a mix of her best work my favourite is Mrs Moss
