George Kittle was asked if he thought Mac Jones would be this good before he joined the 49ers: “Nope. I did not. Nope. He’s awesome. One hell of a football player. I get why he was a first round draft pick. 33 of 39 or whatever the statistic was,... show more

Emmanuel Acho on George Kittle’s comments “have fun with that, I guess” about Brandon Aiyuk: “George’s comments on Aiyuk tells you everything you need to know— stay the hell away. George Kittle would be lying to protect the guilty. I remember when Jimmy Garoppolo was on the squad still and the 49ers were clearly going to draft a quarterback and we had George on one of our previous shows and we asked him about Jimmy, he said he’s a hell of a quarterback, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, all these things and I’m sitting here like 'Bro, you’re lying through your teeth' everybody knows Jimmy G ain’t no good… When I was watching Kittle talk, I was like 'Damn, Kittle is one hell of a teammate' because regardless of the circumstances, he is going to protect his teammate. So what this tells me is simple, he no longer views Aiyuk as a teammate, period. In what world has Kittle ever said something to slight one of his brothers? Now he’s saying 'Good luck with that', that’s not George Kittle.”

Matt Maiocco on Mac Jones possibly being the 49ers longterm backup quarterback: “I would not rule out the possibility that Mac Jones is around for a while. There’s a lot of moving parts, like what they think of Kurtis Rourke, is certainly one part of it. But if Brock Purdy stays out there the entire season like he did in 2023, and plays at a very high level, will there be that discussion around Mac Jones that there was at the end of this season? The discussion around Mac Jones was all media driven that there was going to be this incredible market for trading him, but if Mac Jones doesn’t get off the sideline this coming season, is there any team that would view him as a starter in 2027? If there’s not a team willing to make Mac Jones a starter, that means that he’s a backup and he would get backup money. That’s what the 49ers would want him for to. I’m not so sure that Mac Jones could not fit into that role of Steve Bono and kind of be a longterm backup for the 49ers.”

I asked Shane Steichen why he believes the #Colts can win with Daniel Jones when he’s 24-44-1 as a starter and 3-13 over the last two years: “Well, I think that he’s proven that he’s played good football in that 2022 season (playoff berth). He had a hell of a year that year. …”

A California football Coach was fired after he apparently got mad at a player and kicked a ball at him causing him extreme pain. He had to be helped off the field because of it. He should’ve gotten more than just fired because if I was the boys parents í would be mad as hell.

Cardinals DL Calais Campbell was asked would he rather face Mac Jones or Brock Purdy on Sunday: “Do you want a truthful answer? The truthful answer is I’d much rather play against Mac Jones. It’s a not a shot because Mac is a first round talent. He just hasn’t been in that offense a long time… With Brock, he’s a master of that offense. He can make it go.”

I asked Stefon Diggs if he knew what he had in QB Drake Maye (he of the 5 TD passes today) when he joined the #Patriots: “No I did not. He surprised all of us. I knew he was going to be good but nah, I didn’t know he was going to be this good. I’m just super proud of him.”

Payton Talbott reacts to Raul Rosas Jr. x Raoni Barcelos and the frightening ending: “Barcelos looked so good. He was doing tricks on him, honestly. Really good fight, and then the end was a really big bummer. What happened was really sad. I hope he’s ok. When Barcelos took me down in our fight, it was a very similar angle with his head on one side of my chin, and the back of my head clipped the cage. That’s what made the vertigo get really bad in the last round, so my first thought was maybe it was crazy vertigo. I do think it was cool for Raul to show up in the last round like he did. A lot of people might say it was a fluke, and he was kind of getting his ass whooped, but he hit a second wind. If he hadn’t done that, I don’t think that happens to Barcelos, so he did sort of earn the win.”

NEW: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas just walked through the House side of the Capitol. He didn’t say why he was here. But told me he was meeting with “nobody.” I said tomorrow will be a big day at the court. “I guess so,” he responded. Would he give a sneak peak of decisions? “Nope,” he told me with a chuckle.

Anthony Davis was surprised when he found out Cooper Flagg had a 33-9-9 game: “Oh shit. I didn’t know that. Ooh. He’s not good enough to get a triple-double, I guess…I think I took one of his rebounds, too. But that’s a hell of a stat line, especially with a win.”

Chuck Swirsky on the development of Noa Essengue: "He is still learning this game over here. For people who think, 'Well, he was a first-round pick, the guy is going to come in and be an impact player immediately,' that's not going to happen. He needs a lot of work."

Shaquille O'Neal says he chose basketball over football after seeing Jon Koncak's $15 million NBA deal “Football was my thing. Then my father came in the house one day and smacked me in the back of the head with a paper and said, ‘You need to fucking stop playing football and focus on basketball’” “When I opened up the paper, Jon Koncak had just signed $15 million for 3 years. I'm like, ‘First of all, who is Jon Koncak?’ No disrespect to Jon. He was in the NBA. He was a good player, but I was doing the things in high school that he was doing in the pros” “I was like, ‘Shit, if this dude is making $15 million for 3 years, my dream was to make $8 million for 10 years’” “So I started playing basketball, but I used my football pain experience when I was playing basketball. When I turned with the elbows up, I’m trying to knock your teeth out of your mouth” “People always go back to Hack-a-Shaq and say, ‘Oh, well, he got fouled a lot.’ I never felt it. That’s because of my football prowess and my football experience” “I think if I would have stuck with football, I probably would have definitely made tight end. I hate when people look at me and be, ‘Oh, you’d be a good offensive lineman.’ I’m not a lineman. I’m a showman”
