🚨 George Osborne says leaving the EU customs union has devastated small and medium-sized businesses. British trade has “gone off a cliff”. The justification for leaving was that Brexit would deliver great trade deals with America. Osborne is right and it does all looks pretty fanciful. Andy Burnham must...

Was he not the Chancellor in the government led by David Cameron that managed to organise the disastrously vague and badly managed referendum of 2016?

Yes, and so did his foolish austerity that the Brexiteer dullards were able to piggyback on to—to create the wave of anti establishmentarianism for the Moggs, Goves, Farages & Boris Johnsons of the world to ride..

Brexit was driven by the far right Tories and their MSM allies. All a bunch of made up promises and lies printed on a daily basis, and using fear of migrants ect, the same old playbook and Johnson the main protagonist.

There is no need to frame it as a mistake, Europe is emerging. The case should become clear, no need to push.

The UK thought they were still an empire, and that other countries would beg them for trade deals! That is not the case!

Andy Burnham, "We could stay as we are, that's definitely an option if people think this is the right place to stay" "We could look at what George Osborne has said about a Customs Union" "We can look at what the Liberal Democrats have said about the Single Market" "Or we could all the way" "There are clearly options that need to be considered. We have to look at what is doable and look at the pros and cons of each" "It's not good enough to leave that question hanging" "Let's be clear where we want Britain to go in the next decade" "The country cannot have another decade, like the one we just had: too much drift, too much division" "Brexit has caused more harm than good" "Around 60% of the British public agree with that statement" "The question is, what do we do about that" My view: Well butter my crumpet and call me a startled pigeon: a British Prime Minister has finally said the obvious. Brexit has done more harm than good. It was obvious when Keir Starmer became Prime Minister too. But he was too busy talking about an “island of strangers”, defending the arrest of non-violent protesters holding placards, and trying to make Brexit work to seriously confront the future of the country. Andy Burnham is at least setting out the real choices: stay as we are, a Customs Union, the Single Market, or go all the way and rejoin the EU. That is what serious politics looks like: admit the last decade has been drift and division, weigh the evidence, and decide where Britain needs to be in the next decade. Because leaving the question “hanging” is not a strategy. “Make Brexit work” was never a strategy either. And my vote is clear: rejoin the EU. With our neighbouring countries, we are stronger. We can trade more freely, protect workers and consumers, tackle the climate crisis, strengthen security, and meet the shared challenges facing our continent and our planet. Cooperation does not make Britain weaker. It gives us more influence, more opportunity, and a better chance of building a future that works. Rejoin the EU.
