George understood Missy in seconds... while Mary spent years trying. Sometimes one conversation says more than a lifetime of good intentions. Young Sheldon 🎦

Worst.. mother.. ever. Chose one son, ignored everyone else even her own husband and then goes to 'cheat' with the pastor. She's not a saint. Sucks they killed George off.

Pastor Robb is a mf too

George didn't try to fix or judge her; he just met her at her level, and that’s why Missy trusted him when it counted.

What kind of a mother ignores her daughter that is craving for attention

Mary can be difficult sometimes

Mary is certain instances was terrible mother

True talk

George had a way of seeing Missy for who she really was. Sometimes feeling understood matters more than years of trying to fix things

Nice

Mary always projected her own fears and expectations onto Missy instead of just listening to who she actually was. George didn't try to fix or judge her; he just met her at her level, and that’s why Missy trusted him when it counted.

@Meshai1234 Well said Meshai

George saw what Missy was feeling without trying to fix her, and that made all the difference.

Right

This girl is so wonderful in this role.

Played it 💯

George had 3 kids Mary had 1

Now this 😔

That scene really showed the difference between listening to understand and listening to respond. George connected with Missy by meeting her where she was emotionally, while Mary often let her worries get in the way.

Exactly Lillian

Mary was a bad mother , she worried more about Sheldon instead of there other children.

That's not fair she's supposed to balance it.

That is life, it may take years for the cat to find the rat, but takes just i second for the rat to escape

Okay 👍

Mary was more worried about Sheldon while neglecting Missy

Bad parenting orientation

Fathers and daughters have this natural bond…it’s so beautiful

This is a good point

Sometimes being understood matters more than being protected

I get your point

George just got it. No lectures, no pressure… just presence. Sometimes that’s all a kid needs.

Presence 📌

Over the years, you can see, Sheldon is a piece of shit most of the time.

He's simply overpampered. With a different parenting approach and better guidance, Sheldon could've grown into someone who was just as brilliant but far more socially aware and less difficult to be around.

Missy was just the shadow of Sheldon and it was sad

Really sad

George was a good man , sucks Mary talked so much shit about her late husband in young Sheldon

I don't think so, reality dawned on her when He left.

Exactly. Beauty fades, but the way someone treats people and carries themselves leaves a lasting impression.

Another angle

Son of a bitch, that stirred up a lot of emotions

😔 You'd be amazed at how relatable this is for so many people. It's surprising how many are still living this reality today.

I believe it

I related to her hard asf, it sad she didn't really get any attention until her dad died and her brothers moved out. I have 2 older siblings and I became an aunt at 9. 3 nephews by 16, a lot of the time I wouldn't get much for my bdays n such. it sucks.

Oh dear, that's really a heartbreaking one. But I'll tell you this: it doesn't necessarily mean they don't love or care about you. Sometimes, they simply don't know how to express it. More often than not, it's a reflection of how they were raised.

Dude! Wth man. That was heavy. Hits very close to this guy.

Ikr, 😔

As a child who never had a daddy daughter date i would love to spend time with my dad even though im older

My screen just got blurry 🥹 Love and light ✨️ Hinata

Missy always knew she wasn't on team anybody and the mom made it really obvious for her.

Thats not how to raise a child

i just cried omg

🫂

Will keep saying this,Mary is the worst mother in tv series history. She was self centered and always thought of what makes her happy over her family, then hide it behind Jesus. Very vile woman by all standards

🤣 said "hide it behind Jesus"

Mary was being overrighteous and careless

This song my god , the feels

🫂 🤗 SoReal

Them scenes made me cherish every min I have with my kids and Missey mum is a religious freak over bearing gave religion a bad name

Spending those quiet, safe moments with your kids is what builds those core memories. And you hit the nail on the head with Mary Cooper her suffocating, hypocritical flavor of religion did way more to push her kids away than bring them together. It makes you realize how quickly overbearing love can cross over into total emotional damage

As I watch more of the show I find Missy as an amazing character who can express herself very well

Yeah right she is

That's what made the scene so powerful. Sometimes feeling truly heard for a few minutes can mean more than years of love that never quite found the right words. 💙

That's right

Certain conversations can change everything

Fr

Daughters are closer to their fathers

That's right

She stunted Sheldon's emotional development

Missy too She was also a brilliant smart kid just needed the right push to unlock
