I think this is extremely crazy I want to be super clear. My opinion is Germany should not only not shut down the nuclear power plants, it should reopen the ones that shut down. Those are the fastest ones to restart. It's crazy to shut down nuclear power plants Especially if you're in a place where there are no natural disasters. If you're somewhere with severe earthquakes or tsunamis, it's more of a question mark But if there's not a massive natural disaster risk which Germany does not have then there's really no danger with the nuclear power plants

America wants a nuclear-energy race with China. China is building the machines that build nuclear power plants. SANY has just rolled out the world’s first 250,000 tonne-metre ring-rail crane, designed specifically for large-scale nuclear construction. All-electric. Digitally controlled. Built for modular nuclear projects. And European and Japanese customers are already interested. This is the part Washington keeps fucking missing. Industrial competition is not won by announcing more reactors. You need the steel. The cranes. The machine tools. The components. The supply chains. The engineers. The factories capable of producing all of them at scale. In 2013, America covered the Chinese logo with an American flag. In 2026, it still cannot cover the industrial reality. And come to think of it, the IMF had to reclassify Russia as high income just in the past few years. So given Russia has gas, oil, coal, uranium enrichment, Arctic routes, Russia and China, perfect synergy there. Belgium spent more than 20 years dismantling its nuclear power system in the name of 'green ideology.' Dole 3 and Tihange 2 were closed first. Then, in 2025, Belgium permanently shut Dole 1, Tihange 1 and Dole 2. Only Dole 4 and Tihange 3 now survive, rescued with emergency 10-year extensions. The result has been costly. Belgium's net electricity imports climbed to 14 terawatt hours in 2025, mainly from France and the Netherlands. And while domestic nuclear output fell sharply, the two surviving reactors still supplied 34% of Belgian electricity. The supposed replacement is a vast offshore wind project, but that will not be fully available until around 2032. Belgium closed dependable domestic power before its unreliable replacement even existed. The country did not achieve energy independence, as was the goal, it merely dismantled its own generating capacity and imported the shortfall from its neighbors (who use the same source: nuclear) at great cost.

Germany resisted deindustrialization during the “China Shock” of the early 2000’s in large part due to the ultra cheap Russian pipeline gas that it built its economy around since the 1970’s oil shocks. France electrified its way out of its oil dependence with 54 large reactors built in 20 years. Today’s Europe is short on domestically produced hydrocarbons, refuses to explore for more and has lost the state and industrial capacity to build nuclear effectively. It has somehow convinced itself that deindustrialization and offshoring emissions to Asia was climate heroism.
