Today’s meeting with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Friedrich Merz was special and substantive. We focused specifically on how to make our efforts even more active and stronger. Before the bilateral talks, we saw seven types of drones produced at our joint enterprises – six aerial and one ground-based. This is a significant result of our cooperation, and it is important that there will be more. Today, we have new agreements on cooperation – ten in total – across the most important areas. I thank Germany. Germany is a key leader in supporting Ukraine and protecting lives – it is Germany that ranks number one in Europe in terms of assistance to our defense. We all see how geopolitical sentiments can shift and how much depends on Europe’s ability to stand up for itself – for its way of life and its values. We are actively engaged in diplomatic work with our partners in the European Union to bring Ukraine’s membership in the EU closer. Ukraine is fighting for its life, for its independence, and for the Europe that has lived in peace the longest, that protects people, life and culture, and that, thanks to this protection, plays a truly global role. There can be no complete European project without Ukraine, and Ukraine’s place in the European Union must also be complete – full and equal. It is important to open the clusters. It is important to make meaningful progress in the negotiations. It is important to work at one hundred percent for security and for our people.

I thank our partners and Mark Rutte that the PURL initiative exists and is functioning – contributions were made this May. There will be contributions in June as well. Today, we discussed how we can accelerate and expand deliveries under this key program. I also thank all our partners who are already working with us on joint production and helping with funding so that weapons production in Ukraine can continue to grow. We discussed with the NATO Secretary General several other things that could provide Ukraine with stronger long-term financial security guarantees. We will keep working on this at both the G7 Summit and the NATO Summit in Ankara. Sanctions against Russia. Our long-range capabilities. Financing for Ukraine. Our political cooperation. And our partners’ determination to help Ukraine precisely when help is needed – all of this sends signals to Russia that this war will bring it no results. All of this is also an incentive for Russia to turn to diplomacy. And we very much hope that over the summer and autumn we will be able to bring a real peace closer – a fair and dignified peace. I met with the Advisors of the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy to thank them for their support of Ukraine and for their efforts on developing security guarantees. Not only does Russia show utter unwillingness to end the war, but it is also escalating to the point of real threats to Europe by launching drones over Poland. Therefore, it is crucial to finalize the development of security guarantees as soon as possible. We also discussed our country’s readiness to share experience and contribute to NATO’s collective defense. We propose working together to intercept all Russian targets. I thank the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy for their assistance to our state and for their joint efforts to bring a just peace closer.

We continue to prepare for the first Global Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland and must become a truly effective platform for establishing peace. Today, I personally invited the leaders of Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. It is critical that we maintain dialogue with all leaders, and we practically share the same goal: to restore true stability to international affairs and to ensure justice for every nation, so that no nation is destroyed. History will be grateful to everyone who helps. During our calls today, we also discussed our bilateral cooperation in detail. Denmark: the focus was on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and implementing defense agreements. The Netherlands: Prime Minister Rutte and I discussed the search for an additional "Patriot" system. Hungary: a good and lengthy conversation with many details about bilateral cooperation and the regional situation. We agreed to work together and move forward based on our teams’ work. Germany: we discussed our energy system's recovery and defense, as well as preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin. No one is interested in a third Russian invasion. And right now, defense support for Ukraine is especially important, because Russia’s attacks are not stopping, and there must be greater protection of life for diplomacy to work toward a just peace.
