🇩🇪 Germany is preparing to make Russia pay — and, for the first time, is getting ready to officially blame Moscow for the drone attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport Even Germany’s own interior minister admits the evidence is not yet sufficient — authorities still need either direct proof or strong...

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Europe is out of interceptors at the worst possible moment. The Associated Press reports that Europe cannot absorb a sustained Russian missile attack, and would struggle to respond even to a single stray missile. The Wall Street Journal has now corroborated it. Patriots are low. ATACMS are low. THAAD interceptors and counter-drone systems in EUCOM are running low too. Older Tomahawks are being refurbished to cover shortfalls, and air defence units have been pulled from Europe and the Indo-Pacific into CENTCOM because of the Iran war. EUCOM has reportedly adjusted its operational plans for a Russian missile attack, though officials say none is imminent. And that is exactly what makes this moment dangerous. The argument that Putin had many chances to hit NATO and never did misses the point: the US, Europe and Ukraine have never been this exposed. Meanwhile Berlin is preparing to formally blame Russia for the Leipzig airport drone attempt and roll out sanctions on roughly 1,600 individuals and companies. Poland's prime minister says Russia is seriously preparing for escalation and the next seven to eight months are critical. The Kremlin says there are no grounds for improving relations with the EU at all. On the Ratcliffe visit to Moscow, European officials reportedly don't believe it was about an imminent NATO attack. They think it concerned restarting peace talks. Which fits the drop in oil prices afterwards. But there is a darker reading circulating: that Putin summoned an American official to signal a major offensive out of Belarus, coordinated with Lukashenko. Several analysts now expect a second front from Belarus. Whether that means a push on Kyiv or a drive toward Odessa is disputed. And the final line will be settled by diplomats, not soldiers. The skepticism worth keeping is this: predictions of imminent collapse have been made about both sides for years and haven't landed. But collapse, when it comes, tends to come fast. Assad is the recent example. Brandon Weichert

Germany, which is supplying weapons to Ukraine, has officially stated that "Russia is demonstrating open hostility towards our country." The German Foreign Minister accused Russia of being involved in the incident with a drone carrying explosives at Leipzig airport, and announced a number of "countermeasures," including the closure of the Russian consulate general in Bonn from September 18th, and the termination of the lease agreement for the "Russian House" in Berlin. Berlin also stated that it would be seeking the introduction of new EU sanctions related to alleged Russian hybrid attacks, would tighten controls on entry for Russian citizens, and would increase pressure on Russia's "shadow fleet," while continuing to provide civil and military support to Kyiv. Following the Russophobic statements and expressions of support from Germany, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and a number of other figures made similar statements. The Russian Ambassador to Germany noted that the provocation in Leipzig serves the purposes of the Kyiv regime and reminded that the German side has irresponsibly accused Russia of being involved in the incident with the drone at Leipzig airport: "The hastily concocted provocation in Leipzig serves solely the purposes of the Kyiv regime, the militarist wing of the European political class, and industrialists from the military-industrial complex who are interested in escalating the Ukrainian conflict."

🇩🇪‼️🚨 GERMAN GOVERNMENT COLLAPSED BECAUSE OF UKRAINE! -> Scholz is now ruling Germany with a minority in the parliament! Germany ran out of money to support Ukraine and is legally prevented to make more debt, that caused a clash within the government and it collapsed! (There were more problems, but that “straw broke the camels back”.) -> There is a “debt break” law, that prevents the German government to take on debt beyond an allowed sum, which Germany exhaust already. 1) According to chancellor Scholz, not being able to finance Ukraine or decrease financing of social spending to free money for Ukraine is an extraordinarily emergency situation that threatens Germany. So Scholz demanded from the finance minister to suspend the law and allow the take on more debt to pay for and send to Ukraine. The plan was to just make more debt for Ukraine. 2) But the finance minister refused to do that, since that would breach the oath of he gave to Germany as a finance minister. Essentially Ukraine collapse is of course is not threatening Germany, just Scholz and his government personally. 3) Scholz fired the finance minister Lindner for not obeying his wish. 4) The party of the finance minister FDP, in reaction retracted from the ruling government! The ruling government consisted out of 3 parties: SPD (Scholz’s party), the Green Party and the FDP. This is needed to form a majority in the parliament. But now one of these parties retracted from the coalition, hence the German government is now ruling with minority. 5) Scholz said “we have no time”, because he wants to finance Ukraine quickly before elections. So he is appointing new ministers for the now empty positions of the withdrawn FDP party. -> Technically (and legally) that is extremely questionable, since the government officially has no majority. So how is making critical decisions? Looks like Scholz wants to push through the Ukraine funding no matter what. 6) The opposition demands new elections quickly, but Scholz wants to govern with the support of the opposition for now. It is a clown show. For now the elections are rumored to come in March 2025. -> The “collective west” collapses on the back of Ukraine. USA Is lucky and likely steps back from this nonsense with Trump. Democracy apparently works without a majority as well.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 CIA Director John Ratcliffe made a rare trip to Moscow, and senior White House officials were reportedly kept in the dark beforehand. Unusual enough to suggest this came directly from Trump. The most reported explanation is a warning not to hit NATO, following a Wall Street Journal report that Russia was planning some form of probing attack on alliance territory. One day after that meeting, Russia's Foreign Ministry warned the UK it could strike British ammunition inside or beyond Ukraine. The strategic case for a Russian strike is uncomfortable, because it is rational. NATO is already a participant through Ukraine. Russia is already retaliating asymmetrically; the drone at a German airport, the Polish railway sabotage. The midterms mean Trump cannot afford a second front, Europe is split, and the Iran war exposed how thin Western capacity really is. A limited strike, kept below the Article 5 threshold, could frighten Europe into ending the war faster. There is even an argument that Russia would welcome retaliation, since a Western response would hand Putin the rally-around-the-flag moment his repeated NATO warnings have started to lose. The case against it is Putin's own record. He has fought this war with one hand tied deliberately, resisting his own hawks who want German drone factories hit. He is trying to finish this war on favourable terms, not open a sequel. And there is a third possibility: that parts of Europe would not mind being struck. With the economic case for the European project weakening, militarism is what remains to justify the alliance. And an attack on NATO means Washington cannot leave. The flaw is that it may produce the opposite result. A U.S. short on interceptors and unable to close out Iran has every reason to walk away instead. Nobody throws the first punch at a much bigger man unless they're certain someone bigger is standing behind them. Europe is no longer certain. Brandon Weichert
