Referee Tori Penso of the United States has been poor. She and the all US crew did Ecuador dirty. It is one thing to miss an obvious dangerous play, it is completely reprehensible that VAR (Joseph Dickerson) refused to correct it.

He kick his head or foot was hit by head? Leg was falling down and he could not control movement then was contact with head. Defender could stop his movement, but instead he was looking for contact.

A high kick is a high kick when an opposing player is in the vicinity. This has always been blown as a foul. VAR incompetence yet again. And people on here trying to explain it away 🤦🏻‍♂️. Must be new to football.

Don't have this as reckless. Defender initiates contact with the leg that is high after attacker kicked the ball. Simple free kick for me.

When human refs are making calls, these kinds of things are bound to happen. Once we have AI systems taking over from human decision-makers. It will give clear definite rulings, getting rid of any subjective interpretations, tiny differences, just like VAR does with offside calls
