He not only *didn’t* authorize the national guard, he had his acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller put out a memo on January 4th (two days before the insurrection) stating that ANY REQUEST FOR MILITARY/DOD/NG ASSISTANCE must BE APPROVED BY HIM. He denied 13+ requests.
