Getting a loan is hard -- unless it's a STUDENT loan from the government! “Students" get that, without anyone asking them how they plan to repay. So billions flow to rich colleges that give our useless degrees, while taxpayers and students suffer.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but it seems to me that student loans should be linked to the likely ability of the borrower to repay, given their major. There should also be minimum achievements linked to the loan. Not passing? No more money. Majoring in social equity of basket weaving? Loans limited to $20k perhaps.

Our Tier-1 Honors Program is designed to help students qualify for college scholarships.

Let the endowments pay it back

I'm waiting for one of the people saying it isn't their responsibility to pay for their degree to begin to pay for their Plumber's F150.

In any other context these loans would be considered predatory and government agencies would frothing at the mouth to prosecute

Yep, back when banks controlled them, they also limited the amounts based on future earnings so the loan would not be out of control to pay back. That type of control ended when the Gov took them over, maybe it was a Dem plan all along to snag people & make them dependent of the Gov to forgive the loan.

Just remove that protection for the loans and you’ll see those loaners get way more careful.

Loans should be very difficult to get, in any scenario. The projected default rate should be near zero.

That was the whole grift. Launder the money into the schools and put the debts on the uneducated and unsuspecting students.

Give students the right to sue the universities for the loan balances since they used predatory practices to take advantage of educational consumers. If the colleges are on the hook, they’ll start scrutinizing these loans.

So not everyone has to pay their fair share, huh?
