Now I’ve seen it all The Wall Street Journal is actually reporting that Donald Trump taking away loan funding for college majors that don’t financially benefit students is “a good thing” Even calling them “clown colleges” “College programs that don't leave graduates financially better off will soon be ineligible for federal student loan funding. Here's why that's a good thing.” They explain how predatory colleges have become and how by taking away the funding for these programs it’ll force schools to lower their prices and make college cheaper “When the government stops providing taxpayer-funded loans to these programs, it keeps students from making a bad investment, and it incentivizes colleges to either lower prices or reform these programs to make them better. More and more students are heading out of state for school, even though some of our best universities are right here in California. I’ll change that. By pairing two years of free community college with two free years at our UC and CSU campuses, I will make a four-year degree a reality for everyone—without the debt.

A student visa is a temporary document to study in Canada. That was always understood. Our universities and colleges were built by Alberta taxpayers, first and foremost for Alberta students. Where there is room for international students, the terms are simple. Earn your education, then return home to build a life with it. Rules are what make a fair system fair and our country needs to return to an immigration process that respects the rules.

The stats right now are alarming: • 21% of young adults are delaying getting married. • 31% of young adults are delaying moving out of their parents’ home. • 40% of young adults are delaying saving for retirement. • 47% of young adults are delaying buying a home. All because of student loan debt. There is no good student loan. There is no circumstance where you should take out a student loan—ever. Listen: Going to college is not necessary to exist on this planet. Success does not come from where you went to school—it comes from YOU. Education is absolutely wonderful and vital, and I think everyone who wants to go to college should. Just don’t go thinking that a diploma will be your ticket to a successful life. And definitely don’t go into debt to get a degree.

My discharge petition will bring H.R. 2003 Affordable Loans for Students Act straight to the floor and cap federal student loan interest rates at 2% To be clear: this is not a bailout, this is about making sure Americans who are trying to build a better future don’t have to spend their whole lives trying to pay off their debts.
