Nice feature coming to Ghostty on macOS: keep window on top! Can be toggled via both the native menu bar, command palette, or bound to a key. This is a common macOS app feature (e.g. provided by Notes, Calculate, etc.). Feels right. 🥰 (For Linux/GTK users: this should be done at your WM/DE level instead of Ghostty which is more idiomatic. There doesn't seem to be a Wayland protocol for this and I didn't dare even look at the X11 atom nightmare fuel.)

And all I can guarantee, I can't tell you right now that there's one solution or even a multiplicity of solutions but what I can tell you is that in my administration we're going to solve the problem because I'm going to focus on it. And if there are things that are working we're going to create ecosystems in which those kinds of solutions can proliferate.

Sam Altman on his method for clear thinking: "I'm a huge notetaker. I go through one of these notebooks every two or three weeks." Sam has a very specific system for thinking clearly through writing. As he puts it: "You definitely want a spiral notebook because one thing that's important is you can rip pages out frequently. I take a bunch of notes and then I clearly rip them out so I can look at multiple pages at the same time, and I can crumple them up and throw them on the floor when I'm done." On why writing matters, even with AGI: "Writing is a tool for thinking, most importantly, and I don't think that's going anywhere. First of its kind? New feature in Ghostty: a web-inspector-style "terminal inspector" targeted at CLI, TUI developers. Built right into the terminal, you can see a live view of terminal state, keyboard events, escape sequences, and much much more. 👻💖 Video tour below. Similar to Firebug with Firefox, I'm hoping this helps usher in a new era of develop-ability for terminal applications by making it much much easier to understand what is going on. When the inspector is not in use, there is no perceivable performance impact (benchmarks show the same). When the inspector is in use, the terminal it is inspecting slows down to about half speed due to the overhead. But this only impacts the terminal being inspected. This is a really early version of the inspector. The data organization is kind of messy, its mostly read-only information right now, and there is a lot more information I want to surface. The next step is making a lot of this data read-write so you can actually modify the terminal live (similar to modifying HTML/CSS live in a web inspector) to trial-and-error some changes. This is just the beginning. 😎 Follow along Ghostty development here:

If you have something scary you really don't want to mess up, this is perfect! You can toggle this with the command palette, a keybinding (bind "toggle_readonly"), the context menu, or the main menu.

The lack of "feature design" is why so many products over time feel hollow or messy. This isn't visual design. This isn't architectural design. I thought that a short video lecture of what feature design is and a real case study of applying it in Ghostty would be helpful. Feature design is the planning step behind how you're going to solve one or more user problems with a product feature: what that feature looks like, how it feels, and not just how its going to tactically solve these specific problems, but how that solution is going to interface with the edges of other features that currently exist or are planned to exist in the future.

So I think that's sort of for the second half of the 21st century. I think we can try to, you know, create autonomous countries on oceans, underwater, all sorts of other spaces. But I think technology is the vehicle for how we should be looking to escape and move beyond politics as we find it today.”

Mark Zuckerberg: If software productivity increased like a 100X in two years… the amount of creativity that’s going to be unlocked is going to be massive. And if you look at the overall arc of human society and the economy over a hundred or a hundred fifty years, it’s basically people going from being primarily agrarian and most of human energy going towards just feeding ourselves… to that becoming a smaller and smaller percent. The things that take care of our basic physical needs are a smaller and smaller percent of human energy, which has led to two impacts. One is more people are doing kind of creative and cultural pursuits, and two is that people in general spend less time working and more time on entertainment and culture. I think that is almost certainly going to continue as this goes on. If everyone is going to have these superhuman tools to be able to create a ton of different stuff, I think you’re going to get this incredible diversity. Part of it is going to be solving hard problems like solving diseases or different things around science… but I would guess that a lot of it is going to end up being cultural and social pursuit and entertainment. The world is going to get a lot funnier and weirder and quirkier… like the memes on the internet have gotten over the last ten years. And that adds a certain kind of richness and depth… I think it actually helps you connect better with people.

My theory is there is so much going on across the company that I can’t possibly be involved in all of it, so all these people are going to have a ton of stuff they’re going to do. But fundamentally, if there’s a decision that I want to be involved with, I’m going to be involved in it… I think that’s generally a good way for founders to operate.” Mark continues: “If you’re running the company and there’s something important — at whatever level of detail in the organization — I don’t get the logic of saying, ‘I’m not going to be involved in that.’” Of course you want to have humility that you may not have the most context immediately, but in Mark’s view, the CEO must take ownership of the company’s most important problems. To ensure that his time is constantly spent on the most important priority for the company, Mark has very few recurring meetings and tries to keep his schedule as open as possible: “II generally keep a bunch of time open so that stuff is pretty dynamic — I can wake up in the morning and be like, ‘OK, I need to work on these three things today, and I want to make sure I have a block of time where I can go do that.’” Video source: Stripe (2025)
