Gladiator 2 could have been the craziest sequel ever made. Nick Cave wrote a sequel where Maximus is resurrected, sent back to Earth by gods to kill a rising religious figure who resembles Christ. Russell Crowe read it and said: “Don’t like it, mate”

Russell Crowe didn’t even like parts of the first Gladiator script — he rewrote lines on set and famously told the writer, “Your lines are garbage. But I can make even garbage sound good.” Then came Gladiator 2, with Nick Cave’s wild sequel about Maximus being resurrected by the gods to kill a Christ-like figure. Crowe read it and said, “Don’t like it, mate.”And just like that...we might have missed a masterpiece sequel.

Gladiator 2 might be the most unnecessary sequel ever made. The plot is uninteresting, the tone is nothing like the original, and Paul Mescal simply doesn’t fit. Russell Crowe said: “It is example of people in that engine room not understanding what made first one special.”

Mel Gibson was the top choice to play Maximus in Gladiator (2000). He turned it down because, at 43, he believed he was too old to convincingly fight in armor. His rejection paved the way for Russell Crowe to take the role. And the rest is cinematic history—Russell Crowe went on to define the character and turn Gladiator into an unforgettable epic.

Hitchcock makes it quite clear that Father Logan is a Christ-like figure, most notably during the scene where he goes walking through the streets. He is presented in a long shot, with a statue of Christ carrying the cross while being flanked by two guards.

Gladiator is 25 years old today. Maximus vs. The Tigris Of Gaul Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe gave us was a sword and sandal epic that's both a nod to the past and a vision of the future. It's an amazing achievement on every scale. Crowe says Maximus is still his favourite role

I hope sequels like Gladiator II serve as cautionary tales for Heat 2. Like most people, I really wanted Gladiator II to work, but both the story & the filmmaking are just not good. But the fact Heat 2 is based off a quality crime novel (written by Mann himself) is reassuring.

This is chilling. Hollywood star Rob Schneider reflects on the Christ-like work of Charlie Kirk, encouraging thousands to live for Christ. “You don’t kill a Christian, you only change his address.” ✝️

🚨WOW: A man was ordered to take down his small flag by the council for fear it may upset foreigners. His response? He went and brought a 100 foot flag and draped the whole building with it. This is the ultimate FAFO.

Had us spooked for a second 😟 A video shared by @/love_.1455 shows spooky footage of a human-like figure in the dark at a local 99 Speedmart, and it quickly went viral. The mystery didn’t last long, as netizen @/bbygemokk._ went to the location and revealed the figure was just a tank lid.

Schlatt making an ACTUAL cover of Frank Sinatra's "My Way" in response to all the AI covers of him singing songs and then proceeding to KILL it is singlehandedly the largest dunk on AI I've seen thus far, like he actually went off

Whose Line Is It Anyway? was one of those shows where you never knew what was coming next, and that was half the fun. 😂 The quick thinking, the improv, the looks they gave each other when somebody went completely off the rails… and somehow they just kept it going. Wayne Brady could take just about anything they threw at him and run with it. They just don’t make shows like this anymore. Sometimes you need to forget all the serious stuff for a few minutes and just LAUGH. 😂❤️

P!nk talking about completely panicking and accidentally rambling to Johnny Depp after being forced to meet him is too relatable. I would literally crawl under a table and hide if I had to talk to someone I had a crush on like that. Pink: I went up to him and I was like hey I saw Alice I'm going to be writing a song. He's like you saw Alice Cooper. I was like no no no. Meeting your idols always goes completely off the rails.
