🚆✅ We're delighted to announce that we're able to resume our normal timetable from Glasgow Central High Level on Wednesday (25 March), after work was completed to reinstate the remaining platforms at the station. ℹ️ Public safety is still the main priority so not all entrances and exits to the high level are open. An exclusion zone around the area worst affected by the fire is still in place so the entrances to the station on Gordon Street and Union Street will remain closed until further notice. 📱 We're advising customers to continue to check their journey before travelling as there may be some minor alterations to services due to some trains being out of position following the station closure. We are disappointed with @KeithBrownSNP as he misrepresents Homeless Project Scotland 💜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 yesterday in parliament challenging Douglas Ross for raising the very serious matter about Glasgow City Council refusing our fridge can along with our other x3 vehicles into the LEZ zone after us being requested by a SNP councillor to submit a second application just for the fridge van it was accepted ONLY for 2 months 3hrs before it came into force we have been forced to buy a new fridge van and fundraise for a further 3 vehicles due to Glasgow City Council LEZ and for the last week we have not been able to bring our emergency street outreach vehicles into the city. We would appreciate if @KeithBrownSNP would support us instead of misrepresenting us. Douglas Ross was right on this occasion and we are still suffering today as a result of LEZ. Humza Yousaf it would be better if your Scottish Government and The SNP supported us rather than hindering us 👍

⚠️Storm Floris disruption to continue into Tuesday⚠️ Storm Floris continues to bring very strong and disruptive winds across Scotland, with an amber Met Office warning in place until 23:00 across Glasgow, Edinburgh, and all areas north of the Central Belt area. A further yellow warning is in place across all other areas of Scotland, until the end of today. The damage caused by the storm has been extensive, including trees falling onto overhead wires and tracks. Network Rail will soon begin work to recover the railway, as a number of routes will need to be inspected once the storm has passed and then repair work carried out. While some checks will be carried out later tonight, further inspections will be needed during daylight hours, which will cause disruption to services on some routes on Tuesday morning. Customers planning to travel on Tuesday should check their journey before travelling using the ScotRail app, website and our page. ScotRail tickets dated Monday, 4 August, will be valid for travel on our services tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 August. If you’ve been unable to use your ticket due to #StormFloris, you can request a full refund using our refund request form. ℹ️

How Deep Does Duggan’s Poisoned Dirt Scandal Go? The city council voted to uphold the suspension of a disgraced demo contractor, revealing that the city might be more poisoned than Flint By Charlie LeDuff Charlie LeDuff Detroit — Our municipal novella—“Guess Who’s Ruining Dinner”—has become a real shovel turner. The Plot: Change has come to Detroit City Hall. The current mayor is running for governor. The current council president was elected as the next mayor. And a horde of hacks and cronies is lining up for jobs and handouts. Everybody was supposed to feast. Except the supper party was ruined by a character named Brian McKinney, a notorious demolition contractor accused of poisoning the city with toxic soil.  The Leading Man: McKinney is a murky character who matriculated at state prison only to become Mayor Mike Duggan’s go-to minority contractor after Duggan’s hand-picked white contractors got ensnared in a federal bid-rigging and price-fixing scandal. The Leading Lady: McKinney went on to become the part-time love interest of Councilwoman Sheffield. The two vacationed together at the Four Seasons Miami. Sheffield voted to award her paramour millions of dollars in demolition contracts. And he, in turn, was named a board director at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The Back Story: McKinney grew fabulously wealthy under Duggan’s umbra, getting at least $65 million in contracts. With influence stretching from Duggan’s executive suite to Sheffield’s hotel suite, McKinney was untouchable. He rotated in high society, often photographed in black tails and bow ties. He was, in short, Detroit’l Sidney Port-a-John. That is, until McKinney was accused of dumping the contaminated remains of the old Northland Mall into holes in the city. He charged the city for clean dirt and pocketed the difference, the allegation goes.  It’s so bad that 60% of his holes tested were found to be so toxic that they aren’t safe for human contact. In Flint, people couldn’t drink the water, but they could at least bathe in it. In Detroit, children can’t even touch the dirt. The city’s inspector general temporarily banned McKinney and his company from work pending its final report. The Scene: The City Council on Tuesday convened a special appellate session where McKinney’s three lawyers pleaded with them to keep the champagne spigot flowing. McKinney was a no-show, as was outgoing Mayor Mike Duggan. Council President Mary Sheffield came but curiously refused to recuse herself on ethical grounds. Those in the overflowing gallery included an angry group of contractors who claimed McKinney had stiffed them on millions of dollars in work. “We talked three years ago that the demolition process was a disaster,” Arthur Edge, retired supervisor of demolition, told the city council. “And he (McKinney) was made the mayor’s poster child.”  McKinney’s lawyers argued that the city approved the offensive soil, and so the mass poisoning wasn’t McKinney’s fault at all. It was the city’s. Councilman Coleman A. Young II, whose portrait you will not find hanging in the Genius Hall of Fame, may have put it best: “I can smell the lawsuits from here!” The Resolution: The council voted 9-0 to uphold the suspension of Sidney Port-A-John, casting a cloud over Sheffield’s administration, seven weeks before she was even sworn in. The gubernatorial hopes of Duggan are starting to sink like a cement dirigible. The Cliffhanger: McKinney filled thousands of holes. Other contractors filled tens of thousands more. How much might it cost to fix them if the city really looks into things? $2 million… $20 million… $200 million? Would the city go broke? Might Detroit be more poisoned than Flint? Which begs the question. Can it be called environmental racism if both the perpetrator and the victims are African-American? “The only thing black and white in all of this,” said former City Councilman Roy McAllister “is the black numbers on the white paper.”

Insane video shows the drastic change in water level and devastation caused by the flooding in Western NC. Jay-Paul Thibault in Burnsville, NC filmed how quickly the water rose and the destruction that followed. Unfortunately this is the sad reality for hundreds if not thousands of families. Please keep praying, keep giving, keep sharing, and keep helping. In 1963, New York City committed what one critic called an act of vandalism against its own soul. It tore down the most beautiful building it had ever built, and it has regretted it every day since. The building was Pennsylvania Station, and for half a century it was one of the great rooms of the world... It opened in 1910, designed by the architects McKim, Mead & White, and it covered eight acres in the heart of Manhattan. Its main waiting room was modeled on the Baths of Caracalla in ancient Rome, with ceilings that rose 150 feet into the air. Sunlight poured down through vast steel-and-glass canopies onto the concourse below. To step off a train and walk up into that light was, for millions of arriving travelers, the moment New York announced itself. A historian, Vincent Scully, famously wrote that, through it, one entered the city like a god. One scuttles in now like a rat... Because in 1963, the railroad, losing money and sitting on immensely valuable land, sold the air rights above the station. The great building was condemned. Wave by wave, the pink granite columns were pulled down and dumped in a New Jersey swamp, and a low, windowless complex of Madison Square Garden and an office tower was built on top of the surviving tracks. There was no law to stop it. At the time, nothing in New York protected a historic building from destruction, however beloved. Leading architects stood outside in protest as the demolition began. It made no difference... But something came out of the loss. The destruction of Penn Station horrified the public so deeply that it gave birth to the modern preservation movement in America. New York passed its landmarks law in 1965, and that law would later save Grand Central Terminal from the very same fate. In a way, Penn Station became more powerful in death than it had ever been in life. It’s really true that we never truly know what we have until we lose it... the columns of Penn Station could not be saved. But every landmark that still stands in New York today stands partly because of what their loss awakened in the people who watched them fall. Ada Louise Huxtable, the first architecture critic of The New York Times, wrote of the demolition in 1963: "The tragedy is that our own times not only could not produce such a building, but cannot even maintain it." My today's speech on China "the three province of Jiming" conference to motivate Chinese pioneers to attend Oct. 13th, big Conference. 🔥🔥🔥 Dear GCV Ambassadors and Pioneers of the Three Provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan in China, I am currently in Toronto, Canada greeting all of you. I am very pleased to see a total of 14 GCV Ambassadors from the three provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan at national, provincial, and municipal levels gathered at the scenic spot of the three provinces of Jiming . This location holds historical significance as it was a milestone place after the Red Army's Long March and marks a new starting point on the Long March route. Today, GCV Ambassadors and Pioneers from Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan Provinces are here to help promote Oct. 13th, Chininese Community Open Mainnet Ecological Conference, which is a historic turning point for the Pi Network community in China. I believe that this conference is also a new starting point for China community to lead the global community. I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Liang Shi, the Chief Ambassador of China, Mr. Daniel, the commander-in-chief of the conference, and all the organizing committee members and pioneer volunteers who participated in the conference. An Investigation Is Brewing on Poisoned Dirt, and Detroit Leaders Won’t Answer the Phone The Democrats who run this city have been tossing around the phrase “environmental racism” while they were allowing it to happen By Charlie LeDuff (Charlie LeDuff) Detroit — Who actually will take a call from the people of Detroit? The answer is harder to find than a working payphone, which wouldn’t do a citizen of Motown much good since their politicians don’t return calls anyhow. City Hall is mum, caught up in yet another poisoned dirt scandal. After Michigan Enjoyer published an expose where three whistle-blowers claimed contaminated soil from the old Northland Mall demolition site was diverted into demolition holes in Detroit, the phones lit up. Citizens desperate for information called me to complain. Why can’t they get answers from the elected officials? Mayor Mike Duggan? Running around the country trying to convince the public that the Detroit Comeback is more than a mirage. Meanwhile, he’s quietly pushing for a tax on suburban sports fans and concertgoers as the city’s finances continue to slide. Mallory McMorrow doesn’t answer. She wants to be Michigan’s next U.S. senator, but she’s not even a good state senator. She posts missives about representing “constituents”—when she’s referring to the illegal aliens who have flooded into Michigan. McMorrow says nothing about the people of Detroit—whom she nominally represents by way of a Frankenstein district that was so heavily gerrymandered it was ruled unconstitutional by federal judges. Her district stretches all the way from Big Beaver to the Jeffries Freeway. What Brightmoor and Birmingham have in common is anybody’s guess. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib? She’s busy weeping over the tortured history of Palestine on the floor of the House rather than rallying to her constituents on Detroit’s west side who are getting dumped on. Congressman Shri Thanedar? When he was running for the U.S. House of Representatives, he asked me to take him on a tour of his own district since he had just moved in from Ann Arbor. Today, it seems, he doesn’t even know who exactly he represents. A Detroit city councilwoman in a hearing last week said she had read our expose and was monitoring it with great interest.
