This is complete nonsense. The ocean is heated by the sun only, not by CO2.

This is a non-starter. Most of the world is ocean, and what is happening at the surface does not reflect what is going on even a few cms below. There are few sensors recording this and little research to show impacts/changes at any depth over time.

Atmosphere or CO2 do not warm the oceans... The heat flux is ALWAYS from the ocean to the atmosphere. The increase in absorbed solar radiation (SW) due to the reduction in cloud cover since 1979 is the driving force behind the warming of the oceans.

Great to see you do the rounds Ella. Jim Hansen, writes in a recent article that there is a lot of heat in the pipeline. South America is concerning. Are we underestimating the impacts, even at temps of less than 2C? You are a great communicator. Well done.

@BrianMcHugh2011 CO2 has never heated anything. If it did, we could harness it to heat our homes in winter.

Then they'll drop. How does CO2 make that happen? If I walk into my shower and the air is steamy do I blame the steam for making the water hot? or do I find another cause? you are blaming CO2 when it is a consequence not a cause.

The reason isn't a sudden "climatic change," but a measurement one. As the global population doubled, cities sprawled and weather stations once surrounded by open fields were swallowed by concrete, asphalt and traffic. This creates what's known as the 'urban heat island effect.' Cities trap heat during the day and release it slowly at night, keeping local temperatures artificially higher than the surrounding countryside. That extra warmth shows up in the records, pushing land data upward. The oceans, of course, have remained unaffected by city sprawl, and they show a more gentle, gradual rise. It isn't CO2, it's concrete.

That is an exceptionally low reading for early February when temperatures are normally at their annual high. In fact, it is a record low for the time of year in weather books dating back to 1957. At the same time, Antarctic sea ice extent is now tracking above the 1979 average, and advancing. It's mid-summer at the bottom of the world, yet there's record cold and expanding ice. The Antarctic system is moving in the opposite direction to the crazed climate claims.
