Antarctica is currently in peak summer, and it just set a cold record. On Feb 2, 2026, Vostok recorded -49.8C. That is an exceptionally low reading for early February when temperatures are normally at their annual high. In fact, it is a record low for the time of year in weather books dating back to 1957. At the same time, Antarctic sea ice extent is now tracking above the 1979 average, and advancing. It's mid-summer at the bottom of the world, yet there's record cold and expanding ice. The Antarctic system is moving in the opposite direction to the crazed climate claims.
